You like ships. You don't seem to be looking at the destinations. What you care about is the ships, and mine's the nicest.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Just had Zoom birthday fir my mom and my sister had to put my niece on speakerphone so she could join because she (niece) was out celebrating. Kind of perfect.

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

A very 2020 birthday!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Health~ma for your kid, Gris.

My entire hippie town is honking and cheering. I joined my friends for some socially distanced bubbly. It’s a glorious afternoon.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Health~ma for your kid, Gris.

Ugh. Got woken up at 4 and 5:15 this morning by a yowling cat, got up at 7 to medicate said cat, and was rousted out of bed at 7:15 by Mr. S. Why does this child, who has difficulty getting up on school days, decide to get up early on the weekend? (I know, because 5 year old, that's why.)

And since it is my mom’s birthday, I am reminded that it is also the anniversary of the October Revolution which seems oddly appropriate

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

The NPR reporters sound so happy.

OTOH, county of my birth, DAMN IT HOW COULD YOU

(Jim asks if I am really that surprised. No - angry, but not surprised.)

Our wings are not tired.

You made me check my county of birth, Oneida county in NY. 65% for the orange blight. At least NYC and other pockets of the state overwhelmed them. When I was a kid it was a solid Democratic area. My city predominately Italian/Catholic and loving Kennedy as president. (First one I remember) Don't know what happened. I left when I was a teenager.

Current day my county is blue, in a red state. DH is making noises about moving.

Yeah, Laura, when I left in '82 Greene County was firmly Democratic. This year 71% voted for the Cheeto Vulgarian, and everyone Republican downticket.

Your DH is not the only one; a dear friend of mine still in Utah is actively soliciting opinions on potential new homes, as she and her spouse are in the same sitch: Salt Lake County is generally blue, and the rest of the state is very very red.
