You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

I am quietly delighted by the Biden campaign's statement that it's completely irrelevant if the current president does not concede the election:

"As we said on July 19th, the American people will decide this election. And the United States government is perfectly capable of escorting trespassers out of the White House."

In other news, I am feeling sufficiently better about things to have made an appointment for an eye exam and new glasses. TWO pairs of glasses?!? Who even am I? I have these in the green at the bottom and really like the shape of them on my face, so will pick up the gray and pink ones.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Turns out I'm not the only one suggesting they check DJT's luggage before he's evicted ... and his kids' (I've said to count the spoons, but I think he'd be going for more ... like those silver statuettes he snagged from the ambassador to France). Although, considering his penchant for gold, he might latch on to any gold-plated anything that's not nailed down.

Coding and Sleeping

I'd like to see Susan Rice as secretary of state, though the confirmation might turn into a circus. Samantha Power would be another good choice.

Chief of Staff - Karen Bass

HHS - Julian Castro again

Treasury - Maybe Paul Krugman? I don't really know a lot of potentials. It would be nice to see someone not coming from a big bank.

AG - Stacy Abrams

Others, I dunno.

Pete could do Veterans Affairs nicely.

No one contentious will get through easily.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Julian Castro somewhere for sure.

Vermont is safely blue, yes. What if they tapped Bernie for something. I’d love a new Senator in there, someone younger.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Ahhhh, shit. An acquaintance on FB seems to be sliding down a Democratic-election-fraud rabbit hole. She is aghast that I don't already know that they've been blatantly violating federal law for months now and deeply concerned about my gaps in knowledge and my inability to step out of my partisan shoes and have the courage to look for the truth.

She's not someone I know well, but even so, based on what little I do know, I'm croggled. Ex San Franciscan, queer, dealing with multiple mental and physical chronic illnesses, living in a very isolated part of the country--in every possible way, someone in whose life and safety the GOP has less than no interest, for whom they have nothing but contempt.

Though I guess it speaks to just how hermetically-sealed a bubble I've been living in, that after four years of the current occupant this is the first person I personally know with whom I've had any first-hand interactions spouting this (I have an aunt and uncle who may have similar feelings, but one of them hasn't spoken to me in at least five years and the other hasn't said anything about politics or news events in the last couple of years).

My work team is arranging a not-on-the-clock virtual happy hour/airing of grievances. I'm glad someone else has taken point on that, because I sure didn't want to organize anything. At least we will be able to find out whether we are all mad about the same stuff, whether there's anything to be done about it or not.
