As a city employee, I have the day off today. So my big decision was do I go and vote now, or do I eat Second Breakfast and then go and vote?
I decided that I needed extra energy for such a momentous vote.

Good call, Scola. One does not simply walk into Mordor without Second Breakfast.
I am super antsy and unable to focus. More than usual, even!
Wise planning, Tom.
I just ran some morning errands and am treating myself to a salted caramel mocha, yes, I am.

I'm going to try to work. Can't guarantee the outcome, though.

I have a lot of really boring documentation to slog through updating. It's just enough to make me stay (mostly) off of social media while not requiring any actual mental effort.
When I run out of that, I may just log off and play Ring Fit Adventure so I'm tired enough to sleep tonight.
I am heading home, making lunch, then diving in to home office cleaning/set-up while listening to mindless podcasts. I'm not sure what DP's plan is for after work, so we may be solo playing tonight except for dinner and sleepy-time. But as I just said (texted) to some friends, I can't figure out whether not engaging at all or checking in from time to time will be better. Argh.
I did not, however, achieve a vote. I moved and had to re-register since I'd gone from one ward to another. The registration did not, um, register. I kind of expected it, since when I first moved to DC it took something like six years of registering (and re-registering and re-re-registering) to finally be able to vote. It's frustrating but, since DC is solidly blue - and there's no Congressional representation in question - I guess it's not going to have much impact. But it's annoying to have even less of a franchise than usual. Can't even vote on whether to de-criminalize using magic mushrooms.
Toddson, I don't know if you will have the opportunity today, but if you do, DC offers same day registration at the polling place, on Election Day.
You can get the form here (expand "How do I register to vote in the District of Columbia?"): [link]
DC accepts the following proof of residence:

Government check or paycheck*

Other government-issued document showing your name and address
*The issue, bill, or statement date must be within 90 days of Election Day
According to the same FAQ:
2) In-person
DC offers Same-Day Registration at Early Voting Centers and at the polls on Election Day. Bring an acceptable proof of address (listed above) when you go to vote...
And if you don't have the time or spoons, I get it. No judgment. You just seemed disappointed.
Over on Twitter, Alton Brown is having a very amusing junk food nervous breakdown.
I have voted. Lines were long for our location, but not very long in absolute terms.
The new board looks great! Thanks, Gud and Gris for all your work on it.
I already voted, but my university has explicitly said they're cool with people taking as much time as they need to vote today. My department asked for no one to schedule any meetings today to reduce potential conflicts and because they figure people's concentration will be iffy at best.
