We had a grand total of 8 trick-or-treaters last night. Our neighborhood isn't typically one of the big ones for Halloween, but this was an unsurprising record low. My kids got candy from the police candy parade (basically they drove around tossing candy out the windows) and then hit the good trick-or-treat neighborhood and made out like bandits because everyone was handing out handfuls to make up for the low turnout.

Also, I had dreams about voting. I am voting in person on Election Day because I failed at the mail in option, and the early voting centers are not accessible for people using public transportation. I dreamt I HAD to produce my driver’s license in order to vote, but I hadn’t worn my coat and it was in my coat pocket. My grandma (who passed away 20 years ago was there and pointed out I was wearing my jacket, but only after I successfully argued the woman into accepting my debit card as proof of identity. Then we had to get suited up in gowns and masks in order to vote.

Got the news this morning that a friend of nearly 40 years -- I only really saw her at conventions so only twice or three times a year if I was lucky -- died suddenly. This in conjunction with a Facebook memory that it's a year to the day that we learned of Connie Neil's death is making my heart very heavy.
