Toddson, as some of the cars have been in those spots for days, in the Before Times I would have been "It's only four-hour parking out there, you get what you get". Part of the neighborhood's striving for net-zero carbon includes only one parking spot per household; multicar families regularly scramble to find a secure place to keep their vehicles that's fairly close. And now, of course, a lot of folks have had people move in with them for the duration and parking enforcement is not a priority. But the city should have talked to the HOA, put flyers under the windshield wipers, SOMETHING.
askye, four hours?!? I salute your dedication.
Aw, -t, I'm sorry. Backchannel Hangouts?
Laura, let us hope all employers are awesome and give people time earlier in the day to vote, if not the day off - I don't want you to have to tell anyone "No, I'm sorry, you're too late".
JenP, I was trying to be classy and picked something too delicate for daily wear. *g*
Jesse, I only have scales because of UK cookbooks; I've never managed a successful starter - may your luck be better!
PA allows campaigning up to 10' of a polling place entrance which is crazy. That's no space at all!
Wow, that is crazy.
I can't believe I had a flour crisis at the supermarket! They didn't have any 5lb bags of King Arthur AP, and only had 5lb bags of whole wheat. I am walking, so am not trying to buy a 10 lb bag, which they did have. Flour trauma!!
Ooh, just saw press. We are moving digs? Do we need money? I...can't send any until they return the $6k that was stolen out of my account but after that's fixed (please let it be fixed) I can
Ooh, that is a dilemma, Jesse!
We are moving. There's no need for money to make the move.
Unrelated to the move, my server rack has arrived. Can't mess with it right now, but looking forward to putting together my home server cluster.
Timelies all!
We got notified yesterday that a teacher at Mr. S's school was experiencing COVID-like symptoms. Luckily for us it is not one of the teachers he works with. The classes the teacher does work with are going back to all-virtual until things are resolved. Mr. S's class is still doing the hybrid model of three days in person and two days virtual. All classes were supposed to go to 4 days in person starting next week, but the school is obviously holding off on that.
Cambridge is doing another round of testing nursing homes and assisted living residences, so I'm signed up for a free work-sponsored test on Nov 9.
I dropped my ballot off at an early voting site today after confirming that the ballot were taken daily to the main county site. I was first in line by then but I was also ready to be out of there. Still, I voted. Which feels epic this year. I usually use mail to return them or drop at a polling place on the day of but after the drama of the post office basically I registering me, I wasn't using them for my ballot. And I want confirmation it has been received since I don't have a lot of faith in the President wanting as many votes cast as possible.
Got my sticker and everything.
The record breaking voting is just so damn encouraging. What is most amazing to me are all the adults voting for the first time. My mom was very political so it came as a surprise to me that some people didn't vote. I still haven't quite gotten used to that concept.
