Way to sew, Theo!
Negative, yay, msbelle.
Jack-o'-lantern achievement unlocked. I'll post pictures after lunch when I get it placed outside in the hall.
Anticipation.
I'm succeeding in my lazy Sunday. Coffee, crossword, salad for lunch (aka, no cooking), and now we're going to watch Punch Drunk Love, which I've never seen, to my DP's apparent shock.
I've been fairly productive today. Unpacking and organizing stuff. Cooking. About to swim. Trying to avoid watching news.
eta: Never saw Punch Drunk Love either. Give me the thumbs up/down later.
Now to convince Mr. S that drawing on the pumpkin is a better alternative to carving it.(Neither Gary nor I have carved pumpkins before)
You can also paint them (with acrylics), which might light Mr. S's fire a little more.
You can use markers, but they tend to smudge.
Carving a pumpkin isn't hard. Carving one with precision is harder, so don't set yourself up to fail by trying to replicate some fancy art, the first time you ever even try.
1. Cut a circle at the top (around the stem, but wider) and remove the top of the pumpkin.
2. Scoop out the guts and seeds.
3. Using a pencil, draw a (non complicated) face of shapes (you're coordinated enough to cut out).
4. Cut.
Edit:
You could draw a few faces on paper first and ask Mr. S which one he likes best.
There's a reason jack-o-lanterns so often have triangle eyes and noses. They're easy to cut.
Patiently awaiting at least two people's pumpkin pictures now. I won't be doing one, so I need to live vicariously, you see.
Laura, I thought Punch Drunk Love was a weirdly funny and sweet story. I'd give it a thumbs-up. Now, of course, if you watch it, please report back!
Now, of course, if you watch it, please report back!
I'll see if I can talk DH into it soon. He is pretty stuck on Jane the Virgin at the moment and wants to watch that when he gets tv time. I'll promise him popcorn to watch an actual movie.
eta: Cool, dcp! I don't know if we are getting a pumpkin this year. Probably, but haven't managed it yet.
I spent my afternoon with the 1999 broadway cast of Death of a Salesman. They saved the spicy stories for after the broadcast ended.
I've silently quoted that line a couple times over the last few days.
I quote it all the time to myself but the connotation is, I would guess, different
