Occasionally I’m callous and strange

Yay Cass ballot!!! I finally got my ballot in the mail (Oregon usually gets those out before I even realize there is an election coming up, this is a major delay, but it's ok, I'll still get it filled out this weekend and dropped off well before November.)

Y'all, have I mentioned that you can bake honeycrisp apples? Like, it's my favorite thing this year (ok, that's not really saying much.) Slice or dice, sprinkle of cinnamon (or pumpkin pie spice), bake at 350 degree oven for 50 minutes. Glorious. I've been getting fancy with crisp/crumble/cobbler toppings, and sometimes a splash of lemon juice before the spices. Last night I added lemon juice, a pinch of salt, a dash of pumpkin pie spice, and a punch of cardamon and I had Next Level crustless-pie goodness. Not that you couldn't dump it in a pie crust, I just don't like crust. But have done several types of crumble/crisp topping (mostly just oatmeal and coconut oil mixed together) and tonight I'm thinking about making some biscuit dough to make a cobbler topping and dumpling soup. Think chicken and dumplings, but with no animal products. It's cool and crisp and that just sounds perfect.

Try coring them, filling the holes with cinnamon graham cracker crumbs and sugar, putting a pat of butter on top, and baking them. Inside-out apple mini pies!

Hey. New board.

I voted, it felt nice. And in a real state where it might kind of matter!

(Minnesota. Previously, my president votes have been in the differently meaningless states of California, New York, and Tennessee. Though my city council and school board votes in TN mattered at least!)

I just filed out my ballot, and now need to go swing past a ballot box sometime in the next couple weeks. Yay! My presidential vote doesn't do much, but might be an interesting lieutenant governor race?

Also I just turned on my fireplace. I don't want to turn on my heat, it has been unusually warm here, but it's cold right now. Wondering how the puppy will feel about the fire place, yay or nay??

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

SIGH. The roommate got stuck on the toilet, that is, once she'd sat down on it, her knee gave out and she was afraid that she'd pass out from pain if she tried pushing herself up with it, which would turn a bad situation into a worse one.

After an hour, I insisted on calling 911, and the nice firemen were able to get her up.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh man, that must have been scary for her and for you! Firefighters are good for that kind of thing IME, as long as you open the door for them so they don't attack it with axes.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

We went to a state park so Mr. S could run around, and hiked a trail to a waterfall. Nice day for it, but I am sooo tired now.

Yikes, Theo, that is no good. I'm glad you called 911.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

My dentist has a flatscreen on the ceiling--in every treatment room!--Netflix, and he hands you the remote if you want it. I usually just watch the aquarium fish on the screensaver. Color! Movement! Pretty! No engagement necessary!

So scary, Theo. I hope she recovers okay. Time for a raised toilet seat for her?
