I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Love that book

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

So sorry to hear it Parker, please give Jim my condolences.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

Thank you again, everyone. Jim's actually slept; Ken is coming over later today.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Parker, so much love to you and Jim.

Y'all explain this to me: my 72-year-old aunt who has asthma went to the ER yesterday because she was having trouble breathing. After the breathing treatment in the ER didn't help, my aunt got an EKG, a chest x-ray, and blood tests (for cardiac enzymes, I assume), and then they gave her nitroglycerin (for angina, I guess) and admitted her for observation. According to her, even though she showed up to the ER with trouble breathing, she DIDN'T receive a Covid-19 test. What the fuck kind of shoddy-ass hospital doesn't test a patient for Covid-19, especially before admitting her??? (And this hospital does have a history of being shitty, so it doesn't surprise me that they wouldn't administer a Covid-19 test before admitting a patient.)

Of course, the issue with this aunt is that she has a lifelong history of being...creative and flexible when it comes to the truth. My mom thinks it's 50-50 odds between Shitty Country Bumpkin Hospital really didn't test her for Covid-19 *or* they did test her, it came back positive, and she won't tell anyone. (That's a whole complicated relationship between my mom and my aunt that I won't touch with a 10-foot pole, except to say that, yeah, my aunt has been known to embellish the truth, but I feel like this is something she's smart enough not to lie about.)

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Gary has taken Mr. S to get new shoes. He's needed new sneakers for a while, we just hadn't gotten around to making an appointment until now.(Besides, Mr, S's school is going to a hybrid model on October 5, and he will need shoes for in person classes.)

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Teppy, that is crazypants.

We had a few relatives over outdoors yesterday for a belated birthday party for TCG. I baked a baked ziti (my best one yet) Mom brought pizza and calzones, and TCG's stepmom brought a salad. And we had carrot cake from the bakery. Everything was delicious, and now we're all exhausted. ltc doesn't have school on Monday, and TCG is taking the day off. So, we have a long weekend.

Our wings are not tired.

It is also possible that they tested her, but she got tested for so much stuff she doesn't even remember. It seems crazy that they didn't.

DH was tested again and is negative. He had horrific head pain when his flight landed and I told him he probably had a sinus infection. He went to the doctor who tested him for a bunch of stuff, including Covid again (his 3rd test) and agreed with the sinus diagnosis. Since he is in doctor's offices so much they have tested him multiple times. It is always good to see the negative. He is very careful.

Our wings are not tired.

That sounds like a lovely day, sj. And now I want baked ziti and carrot cake!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Has anyone who's gotten the flu shot had side effects? I got the shot on the 23rd and was okay, but then early Saturday morning I woke up and had those prickles you get when you're going to be sick. Nothing happened, went back to sleep, but I felt kind of blah yesterday and today.

That seems like a long time for flu shot side effects to last.

Laura, add it to the list for when the virus is over. I'd be happy to have you over and cook for you?
