Occasionally I’m callous and strange

And in silver lining news, I found Mallomar knock offs at the grocery store the other day. They are very tasty and perfect texture. In totally related news, I took a walk to the neighborhood weed store and restocked my edibles supply. Turns out the place has been totally renovated and renamed since the last time I was in there (which was almost certainly more than a year ago.) Zero crowd, excellent distancing and mask compliance among the two employees I saw (also the only two other people in the building. Covid-Winning!) The only contact was handing over cash and collecting my medible prizes. It was a very civilized experience. I only wish the grocery store last week had been so chill.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

Thanks, all. We've just come home from a drive; I'm going to pour hot cocoa and a melatonin or six down him and coax him back to bed.

That sounds like an excellent plan. Sleep is so important, and yet so dang hard sometimes.

I'm wondering if I should follow your excellent example and make another trip - Paper and Leaf is open for another hour and the online preorder menu has edibles. Some dark chocolate/sea salt minis might be of use.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

that sounds marvelous, amy.

I am trying to write, for once. It's been so long and I miss it, so I'm making myself write instead of doomscroll.

It's been so long I've kind of forgotten how to do transitions...

Oh, suela, that's wonderful news! You will remember, and if you don't, it's still making something.

Ursula Vernon tweeted this yesterday and I felt seen:

Sometimes I write a character that's wiser than I deserve, like the cook in SEVENTH BRIDE cooking biscuits & saying "Yes, everything is terrible and unfair, and yes I could sit down and cry with you for hours, but everything would still be terrible and we would have no biscuits."

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I'm so sorry for your family's loss, amyparker.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I am so sorry, amyparker and family. My condolences.
