'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

The ankle is doing quite well, just the slightest bit twingey if I forget and come down hard on it, or go one-foot-per-tread on the stairs. It is swollen and looking bruisey, so I know I wasn't exaggerating that I hurt it. I walked on it all day without pain, so I know I'm getting off lightly.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

If you can, keep elevating it when you're at rest, Theo.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

They haven't wanted my blood for a while ... I take too many medications.

Same for me, with the addition of my getting tattoos regularly.

Has anyone heard from Gud?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'll check out that training. I don't know if I'd participate in group actions, but it's good to have more info to make that sort of decision.

I gave blood last May. I should probably do so again. A couple of times the blood just stopped flowing out, but I've found if I hydrate well ahead of time, things go better.

I've sprained my ankles many times. It hurt like the dickens each time. I hope yours heals up quickly, Theo.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yeah, keep resting and elevating it as much as you can, Theo

Flu shot achieved! My office friend who transferred to Vallejo before I did and stayed there when I came back and then got laid off but hired back temporarily and then totally laid off has come back "permanently" over here in her original department. Nice to see her face to face! Masked and distant, of course

I used to give blood every 8 weeks or whatever, then for a while I couldn't because my husband had risk factors but that has expired for me. I tried getting back to the regular donation a few years ago and they wanted me to do the apheresis plasma donations and that went badly enough (as I recall it was difficulties with getting/keeping the needle in my vein) that a nurse told me maybe donating was not my thing so I just didn't bother for a while but when I went in July it went find other than not getting the full pint and this time even better. I did make sure I was super over hydrated for at least a day before

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

oy ... I made an appointment to see a doctor tomorrow morning; I obviously erred when I told the PA that I have a headache and have had one for some time. I think it's my blood pressure - with the stress of moving plus my BP medications running out - and I couldn't get more without seeing a doctor. Only now the doctor won't see me - I have to do ... whatever ... over the phone. Don't know when, but they'll call me. Admittedly, they're pretty good about that but still. And this is for a place that does a temperature check and, I think, a virus check before you can even get into the building proper.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Theo. sorry about your ankle. Sounds like a less severe sprain than the one I had a few years ago. when I needed a boot cast and crutches.

I use ace bandages (bad knees, mostly, but an occasional twisted ankle) and I'm aggravated that I have trouble finding one in the drugstore (three different franchises, by the way) that isn't one of the self-stick ones. Those are bad to use anywhere you're going to bend a lot (like a knee). They get all stuck on themselves and get really uncomfortable. I tried multiple washes to try to tone down the stickiness and, well, it wasn't pretty. Or even usable.

Thrive to spite them

I haven't given blood in a long time, the last time I gave blood-- which granted was over 20 years ago-- I ended up managing to get home and then passing out for an indeterminant length of time when my then boyfriend came over to check on me and discovered the front door of my apartment wide open and me in the bedroom completely oblivious.

so Ive been very reluctant to try giving blood again.
