Weather be whack so many places. Tropics with 4 storms. Colorado with snow. Poor California. Here in Maine it is quite lovely.
Maine politics, at least here, are pretty mixed. Collins and Trump signs, and plenty of Dems signs too. Talked to the manager here at the resort and he was bemoaning the trashcan treatment of the Pandemic Playbook, rather than listening to experts. So we know where he stands. We've seen lots of listen to science signs too. I really hope to see Collins go down.
Another Monday start of the workweek, another day of me not wanting to work. I may need to take a week here pretty soon.
I'm working in theory, but really just on call to deal with any issues. The internet is a wondrous thing.
Congrats Gud and Shir!
In other news, the fucker in chief has decided to screw over the entire military by requiring that the payroll tax deferral apply to all military (both military members and civilian employees of military agencies). Which means I will get 6.2 % more in my paycheck for the rest of the year-- and then I have to pay it all back in 2021. [link]
This is entirely meaningless and I think it will also fuck up my tax obligations for 2020.
My group text with coworkers is not happy.
I am really irritated by work today. It's existence and demands on my time and energy. Bah. I have a vacation scheduled for next week but I have to get through this week first...
I'm sorry, Consuela. That whole payroll tax thing is just enraging.
The short sighted payroll tax deferrals and rent/mortgage deferrals are such a disaster waiting to happen.
DH is amused that I am taking pictures of fog. But it is noon! And fog! Even the sound of fog horns at sea. In Florida I almost never see fog, maybe once a year. So to me it is super cool. Yes, I am easily amused. DH is also sleeping. He didn't wake until 9, and has already had a couple naps. He has two modes, full steam or asleep. Good to see him catching up on much needed rest. Although lunch should happen soon.
We haven't heard anything from our workplace about the payroll tax. I am hoping that means it is just not being offered, but I guess I should ask.
Since I freelance and pay estimated taxes quarterly, I'm just ignoring the payroll tax cut and paying estimated taxes at the same rate I've always paid them. Tim's not sure what his company is doing about them.
