I know, world in peril and we have to work together. This is my last office romance, I'll tell you that.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I think we're seeing the long-term isolation and stress of the lockdown really playing out -- whether it is the personal, like all the woes experienced here, or random customers having meltdowns, general incivility, rioters and shootings. And I don't know what we can do about it (the stress) other than acknowledge it and soldier on.

Feeling kind of depressed here just now. But I'm so grateful that this is an island that I can go to and feel it's OK to talk about details (work, roommate worries and annoyances) without worry that it will get back to people that it might hurt.

Now tagless for your comfort.

How is your niece holding up?

She's shaken up. And filing for divorce. Dad said she is welcome to stay and I think she needs the stability and someone to support her through this, too.

I'm trying not to get too low. Even watching things in Kenosha. We had a BLM demonstration planned for Saturday and now we have similar "militia" groups putting up a call to arms.

I'm sick of white supremacy. I'm sick of violence. I'm sick of a system that rewards bad behavior and punishes minorities for just being minorities.

I'm working on staying positive and doing small things around the community to help. Make a donation, patronize a minority owned business, just be fucking nice to people. GAH.

Our wings are not tired.

I hope your niece and dad can help each other heal. So awful for everyone.

Yes. This.

In life never boring news, Skinner got hit by a car. He will be okay. I have been going each evening to my sister's to watch convention coverage with her. Shortly after I left the dog wanted to be let out and son's GF let him out. He ran into the street, maybe looking for me. Got hit. She called me of course and I came home. My sister and nephew came over. Nephew is medic and he gave him some tramadol (he had in stock from his dog), and checked him out. He was able to do stairs and basically had a number of abrasions. He was clearly stiff and guarded, but he is so thin that anything broken or swollen would be easily seen. He didn't object to nephew poking and prodding. Talked to emergency vet on the phone and decided to take him this morning. Absolutely stiffer this morning. My son carried him down the stairs and into the car. Now we have drugs and bandages and the cone of shame. Vet agrees that it is uncomfy but not dangerous. Dog is sound asleep in the back seat of the car, so I am leaving him there for a while. It is his happy place.

Pets! Kids! Parents! People! Government! It's always something.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Oh no, Skinner! Lots of health.

And continued~ma to all, as it seems to be needed. Cashmere, again, I am so sorry for all of the bullshit. It is so much.

I also accidentally baked way too much babka, so y'all welcomed to some. Because babka helps. Babka ftw.

Aw, poor Skinner. Glad he's not badly hurt!

{{Cashmere}}

I don't think I have ever had babka but I am willing to give it a try

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Much love to all Buffistas going through especially hard times right now.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

WTF, world. Not loving this drama. Just let everyone relax.

Our wings are not tired.

Babka would absolutely help. Alas, it would surely be concrete by the time it arrived.

My county is starting "phased repopulation" which I think just means people can go home in an orderly fashion but sounds weirdly scifi and even dystopic

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I really really wish the fed government would just pay everyone without vacation leave or unemployed like $2000 to stay home a week. Just stay home or go somewhere and stay inside. Give us all warning - like stock up on stuff, make plans with friends or family - combine resources - whatever you need and then everyone just log off - no work - no nothing, just decompress. Emergency service ppl - go on a rotation schedule, yes?
