From a friend who lives in Allentown PA:
Well, did I have a big surprise tonight. I went to mail an important document in the mail room of my building. To my surprise the mail box has been removed. It looks as though we will not be able to post any mail from this building. I live in a 20 story building filled with senior citizens many of whom no longer drive a car. Isn't that nice. From now on we have to go to another location to drop mail. Luckily for me I still drive but I would prefer to do my mailing from the convenience of my building. I suppose it is to discourage voting by mail.
Or develop a good case of insomnia and stay up all night watching DVDs (I, personally, can't deal with new books, shows, etc.).
edited to add: responding to Dana and Laura
Test~ma requested here. ltc started complaining about a sore throat last night. So her doctor is sending her to a drive thru testing site for a strep test and a Covid test. She's not feverish, but she is miserable and not herself. And can I add how livid I am that they wouldn't do the damn test on Sunday when we were already at urgent care.
Test~ma! I'm sorry. Really agree she should have been tested at urgent care.
"As Jarrett Stidham awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect."
Gregor Samsa would be a good name for a football player.
BOO bad dreams!
BOO mail box removals!
BOO unwell kiddos!
Soon after the quarantine lockdown began, some of the apartment buildings in the area posted signs that they would no longer accept packages. I can't remember if it was all packages, or only those from non-USPS delivery services. There were, as you might imagine, protests about this and the policy was rescinded. The news from USPS is dire - I saw an interview with Russel Honore (remember him? cleaning up after Katrina); he's retired now and can't get his medication from the VA by mail. He said he'd have to drive to Walmart, but worried about veterans who didn't have that option.
TCG is supposed to be home for lunch, but he is stuck on the side of the road with no gas. ltc is weepy and miserable and only wants her daddy. This week can bite me.
