Hec, I'm shaking my fist at your school district on Matilda's behalf.
I think that made the difference BECAUSE WE GOT AN OFFER!
So tomorrow I will accept Matilda's slot at Raoul Wallenberg HS. Which is a smaller HS, with a strong academic record (rated 8 out of 10 in the district), and actually the HS which is physically closest to us. Also one of her close friends is going there.
Also, they play softball in the spring.
I might get a night's sleep tonight.
Hec, that's great news! Is Matilda happy with the school?
WOO MATILDA GETTIN EDUCATED!!!
Yay for Matilda's school!
I think it was The Cutest Baby in the World, and then The Cutest Toddler in the World, and it was sort of dropped after that. The younger never had a 'cutest' designation, that I remember.
I'm glad she's making her journey to comfort with who she is, and she's lucky to have supportive parents.
In elders they call the cranky afternoon and evening time "sundowning." I think really it applies, no matter the age.
Yay Matilda!! That sounds awesome.
The younger never had a 'cutest' designation, that I remember.
Ah, that's what I was failing to remember: whether those names were the first kid, or both kids, or anyway: hooray for two daughters!
And hooray for Matilda having a damn fine school (and nearby, and with a cool name!)
I think that made the difference BECAUSE WE GOT AN OFFER!
FANTASTIC! I hope Matilda is happy. What an ordeal for all of you.
Now I've got to find my scroll of things that need fixing and get to it.
This fist isn't going to shake itself. ;)
Is Matilda happy with the school?
Reasonably. The reality is that after going to school with all her same cohort of friends from K through 8, they are scattered everywhere in High School. But one of her good friends does go to this school, it's easy to get to, and it's close to Japantown (for after school ramen).
They do have a digital media class, and after school club, as well as a club that coordinates with the local Fashion and Design institute. And the aforementioned softball. This school has a good record of placing kids in the UC system.
The short answer: It's good enough.
The reality also is that she hates online learning and it's very difficult for her. So this is (hopefully) just something they have to deal with this fall.
