And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I suppose the Recent Unpleasantness in Portland has shown us that the modern equivalent of pitchforks is really leafblowers.

Our wings are not tired

I think a lot of the mask thing has to do with the fact that it is a visible indicator of your affiliation. So when someone is yelling at someone wearing a mask what they are really saying is, "Fuck you for being a Democrat." This country has become so completely organized into us against them and it's now like the mask is the Sneetches Star marking.

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Given that the thrust of the story was a con man making a pile of money off turning star Sneetches into non-star Sneetches and vice-versa, I don't think the analogy holds up.

I think we're reaching the point where we have to go "My troubles are going to have troubles with me."

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I think I will be either doing early voting or in person voting, since the latest bullshit from the president is obviously meant to prevent voting by mail as much as possible. He basically said so.

If you get a mail-in ballot, there are often drop off boxes - you do not have to use the mail. Might look in to that. It is what I am planning to do.

I was at an urgent med place today with my son, more on that in a bit. Anyway, the staff behind the counter were all enraged with the idiot mask protestors. They were saying they wanted a wall around NY. Noting if you go to Vermont you see masks all over and cross the border to New Hampshire and nary a mask in sight. Unless we get our act together this is never going away.

Son had to go get a return to work letter. He was a bit nauseous at work and his boss sent him home. Told him he had to get a doctor's letter to come back. He has a delicate stomach, so nothing unusual for him, but his employer, like a lot of places here, doesn't want to take chances. He gets his temp taken every day too.

Dogs to vet today. Bailey has an ear infection and got pre-op blood work because she needs a teeth cleaning (her first ever, so I cannot gripe - I've saved so much $$ on her being a healthy mutt). Miley got meds for storm anxiety and coming-in-soon food for the diabetes, a biopsy on a bump, and a urinalysis to check for UTI. Lots done - over $1K. LAWD. The teeth cleaning has to wait until next paycheck because it will be at least $600. I guess it is goos that I did my bit of online shopping last night. No more of that for a bit.

One thing on this, confirm with your local authorities the location of the boxes. Last night, Maddow had a segment on drop off boxes in Ohio. Secretary of State Frank LaRose banned county boards of elections from offering more than one for the November election. Here's more at Cleveland.com: [link]
