Jayne: That's a good idea. Good idea. Tell us where the stuff's at so I can shoot you. Mal: Point of interest? Offering to shoot us might not work so well as an incentive as you might imagine.

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

I don't know, I've HAD it done by a pro, and I'd still be worried if I had to do it myself; either about not pushing far enough back and not getting a good swab or pushing TOO far back and damaging my sinus cavity.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I wasn't comfortable with the self-swab option, and the word about town is that state tests come back within 24 hours while the drugstore tests take up to a week. (Plus, free.)

Our wings are not tired.

The DIY method is a bit different that used by the pros, but not difficult. The most challenging part was the breaking the swab in half to fit it into the test tube. Spoiler font for the queasy mostly they have you do it longer than the pro did it, as in rotating the swab for 15 seconds per nostril before putting it into the test tube to return to the attendant.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's wild, Jess.

I would not want to swab myself. It was uncomfortable and went on for too long when it was done for me, so I doubt I would do it as thoroughly as it's supposed to be done.

Our wings are not tired.

Mostly I went to the DIY place because it was the closest, only 45 miles, which up here is close. In Florida I just go to my doctor.

Because books.

When I got tested in April, they didn't do the touch-the-brain swab. It was just a regular Q-tip up my nose for half a second. I wonder how come, and if it was actually as accurate.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

For your amusement, may I present this dramatic kitten.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And it's been 2.5 weeks since I donated, with no results, so time to call and nag them.

I don't remember if I got results anywhere other than the app -- I was glad someone at the drive told me to get the app for that purpose!

And you have to keep your windows rolled up until you get into the tent labeled "hot zone" where they do the actual swabs, so all communication is done by guys in fatigues holding up signs at you like you're in some kind of dystopic Arrival/Love Actually crossover.

That is incredibly evocative!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I've been checking the website for results. They have the other stuff like hemoglobin, but no antibody test yet.
