the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Sara, that's awesome!

Sooo you may want to try googling "gigantic jillifont PNW" (or something similar), and see if the photos look like what you saw.

Mine was not *quite* that big, but close. It was a big motherfucker. And it had better not have friends.

I'll be 100% honest with you folks: a regular teeny jillifont (by "regular" I mean "the size of my fingernail at most") is going to make me raise an eyebrow and probably grab a tissue to catch it and flush it, but jillifonts that size are NBD.

Today's behemoth? After I killed it, I had an adrenaline dump so hard that I was shaking. And it took a whole Ativan for me to settle down (for comparison, for anxiety/panic/etc., I take half an Ativan and I'm chill). Goodness.

I feel like Murderbiscuit should have taken care of the jillfont for me. But knowing him, he just would have turned it into his dark minion.

Vlad thinks jillifonts are the best toys ever. At least he's stopped running up to me while carrying them in his mouth, because that was nightmare fuel.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I finally managed to articulate how I was feeling about the whole Kavanaugh mess and posted this on FB

We will never know for sure what happened between Kavanagh and Ford. He may be innocent (I don't believe that he is, but that's no matter) What we do know for a fact is:
1. He has lied or misled the tribunal under oath, and not just in this confirmation hearing.
2. He has backtracked on statements when called on their veracity.
3. He has shouted and cried during his testimony.
4. When confronted with a question that he did not like, was rude and disrespectful to the committee member.

Is this the behavior and temperament that the people of America should want in a Supreme Court justice? In an office where s/he is appointed for life?
The FBI investigation is all well and good, but frankly isn't going to give us any concrete answers. Kavanaugh's conduct already has.

Coding and Sleeping

Congrats, sarameg!

I feel very much the same way, Vortex. I think he might not remember the incident, but I believe it did happen. I think it takes some serious motivated reasoning to think he has been remotely honest about who he was back then. It just reeks of a privileged rich white boy who didn't have to worry about consequences.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Yeah, I think it's entirely possible that he doesn't remember these events or has so successfully categorized them as something else in his memory that he doesn't recognize them as what's being described. But I don't give a shit what his problem is. There are so many reasons he's a terrible choice.

My cats are useless predators. The Pumpkin is good at smearing moth on the walls& ceilings, but that's it.

msbelle, you & maria can compare notes!

& thanks, all. I'm still awed.

And then my mom called to congratulate & tell me I have a new cousin (whose mom is same age as me) & we had an excellent trip down memory lane.
