Happy birthday, Fred Pete!
Laura, congratulations and welcome to Judah! I love the name.
My sympathies to all of those without power and/or trees. That storm was quick but powerful.
In other news, I would like to come home from work one day this week without rage-crying. It doesn't seem like a lot to ask.
Happy Birthday, Fred Pete!
Congratulations, Laura! (WEEEEE Babbies!)
{{Sophia}} I am sorry. I love how people we don't see that often can have such a remarkable impact on our lives. It sounds like he was an amazing person and I am glad he was your friend.
ND, you are constantly at the back of my mind during all this.
My co-worker may have went into labor and my boss has to quarantine because her husband got sick and is waiting for a COVID test, while another co-worker is out on vacation. Shifts are going to be a little crazy around here for a bit.
I find having a boss who doesn't really understand my work leads to him making up goals that have no connection to my reality and bad reviews when I don't meet them (cuz I was busy doing the job he doesn't quite comprehend rather than his made-up shit). I'm glad your situation went the other way.
Oh dear, yes, that would be suboptimal.
Analysts shouldn't have to run meetings, we should be able to just provide Sales with the information they need and sit in a corner quietly until we are needed
That sounds right! Good luck with your future meetings.

Yow.
Laura, did your place get through Isaias okay?
Yes, I think I may have had more rain here in NY than DH did in Florida. He still did all the prep because it won't be the last storm.
Phew, Judah Emanuel was born sometimes this morning.
Hooray!
Sophia, I am so sorry for your loss.
I'd so rather read my news (even if I too often end up doomscrolling the news, which is basically the equivalent...). But I'm not much one for that kind of background noise, either.
Agreed.
I just spent a week with my parents and they watch local and national news on two stations in the early evening and local at noon-ish and 10-ish. Sooo much repetition. I think my mom tends to have FOX on in the background when she's quilting. At one point when she was out I showed my dad some of Sarah Cooper's videos to give him context for the Tic Toc thing. He enjoyed those and vented a little about my mom's politics.
Tangentially, MO got added to the Chicago naughty list while I was on my way there so I am now on day one of my two week quarantine.
Welcome to your quarantine! May it be uneventful.
Oh! Happy birthday, Fred Pete!
aurelia, may it pass quickly and without sickness.
I have 1/1s with all 3 of my direct reports Friday which I don't usually since I'm both going on vacation next week and I'm moving into a new role and they won't be reporting to me soon. And we're telling the team Friday so I wanted to make sure to check in with them right away.
Oh! And I just realized I could cancel a meeting because we actually had the discussion today!
I had an 8:00 am meeting and a meeting that lasted UNTIL 8:00 pm in one day last week. This amount of work is seriously going to become undoable if I can't stop having meetings. I know some jobs are really mostly about having meetings, but I can neither build courses nor answer people's questions with these endless meetings! And for some reason it is harder to hang back and just do work on a zoom meeting than in an in person, which is weird. I think it is the lack of two monitors, so I have to minimize zoom to work during a meeting.
