My mom likes having the TV on for company when she's home alone but she prefers to have on baseball for that. She does watch the local news. She also read the comics everyday, the rest of the newspaper she might read or she might not. Mom is pretty good at staying sane. My dad, I think, wants to stay informed and also will fall asleep with the TV on so if it's repetitive he doesn't so much notice. That said, I don't think he has it on all day so much as he will put on Rachel Maddow or whatever after dinner and just leave it there for the rest of the evening so it's partially that there aren't other things on?
I LOVE YOUR TAGLINE MSBELLE
And PHEW my conference call got rescheduled HALLELU
That makes next Tuesday another 3 conference call day but that is a problem for Future!-t
Thank you all. I have been weepy all day, and I am just so shocked at how hard this hit me. Probably the fact that it is 2020 didn't help.
I didn't even like to watch the news when I was forced to watch 6, 6:30 and 11pm broadcasts. To much News. And my grandpa was basically Archie Bunker and my mom was basically Meathead, so you can imagine the fun dinner table discussions during the Carter Administration. I did end up with a little crush on Frank Reynolds, though. [link]
Hahahaha 3 calls. I have 11 on Friday. A terrible competition to be winning!
Sophia, your friend sounds like such an amazing person. What a loss. I'm so sorry.
11 calls! That is bazoo! We now have no-meeting Friday which is OK in theory, but bunches up the rest of the week sometimes. Not this week, though! I think August is actually going to be pretty quiet for us.
Although of course I'm supposed to be working on a big complicated thing right now. @@
We are having review season even with no ratings and no raises, and my new (post-reorg) boss was so nice in mine! I always feel like a slight loser compared to my previous boss (who I still really like and it's not like she gave me bad reviews), so it's kind of delightful having a boss who doesn't really understand my work, instead of being the long-standing expert in it.....

I find having a boss who doesn't really understand my work leads to him making up goals that have no connection to my reality and bad reviews when I don't meet them (cuz I was busy doing the job he doesn't quite comprehend rather than his made-up shit). I'm glad your situation went the other way.
DH tends to leave MSNBC on but I make him change it. Rachel's voice puts him to sleep almost instantly. Mostly I make him change it to HGTV or Netflix. I like Newsy for a change. Never watch local news unless there is a hurricane, and then I tend to go to the local news website.
