We have darkness and wind here, Theo.

One of my friends in NYC posted a picture of a downed tree in front of her place. Be safe all! We just have had a bunch of rain all day. Which means the dog won't go outside.
So, I just realized my new nephew shares his birthday with President Obama. That is most excellent.
I had over 5 inches, streams going through the basement. The sump pump took care of it, but I also put down things to sop it up and I ran the wet vac full 4 times when it was coming down the hardest and half full again once it stopped.
I just went out and did some moving of mud from the trench. It settled in places and is still piled up in other places. Easy to stomp down and move around with a shovel when wet. Then I bailed out about 7 gallons from the hole they left where I need to replace a plastic drain pipe and distributed that water to trees on the other side of the yard. The hole is still full of water, but the small lake at the base of my driveway (which feeds to this hole) is mostly gone.
Forecast is for more rain Thursday and Friday, so I would like to replace this drain pipe and/or clean out my gutters before then.
I wish we were getting more rain here, but it went west. We need rain!!
I just want to still have a business when we finally get through this pandemic.
Yeah, got a notice today that one of our neighborhood bars that has been in business 45 years is closing. Selling off the contents. It was just another reminder that a lot of businesses aren't going to make it. We really need to have a huge infrastructure/jobs/stimulus bill to go forward in January to get money in people's pockets again. And of course a vaccine, and people taking the vaccine.
January seems hundreds of years away. And of course I won't even consider the possibility that we won't have sane government by that time.
I hear you, Noise. I hope we don't end up in a Great Depression scenario with all of us standing in breadlines instead of working. And, short of that, I hope very hard that society doesn't screw you and the people like you who are being responsible both to public health and your employees as best you can.
I have no power (going on 5 hours) and several trees down. The entire county was more or less trashed so getting power back is going to take a while.
A not small part of me hopes it will be off at least long enough for me to take a personal day tomorrow because OY.
Yikes, not fun. I hope they are able to get power restored quickly.
Our power went out last night for a few hours, but it happened right when we went to bed, so it was an optimum time.
