Remember how I quit my job? My last day was supposed to be next Saturday. But now it's apparently yesterday, since they told my boss at 1:30 that they're furloughing the entire department except him, one librarian, and the team that shelves the books, effective today at 6pm. In the middle of a pay period! With no previous hinting! Yiiiikes. Meeting at 4pm which not everyone can be at because some people were off today or working at other locations, so my poor boss has to call and tell them after.

People on my Nextdoor page are arguing that the officials are lying and hospitals aren't full. Labs are lying about cases to get more money, and so forth.
There's someone I know (and have to stay cordial to, because he's the dad of my youngest godkid) who is full-on Libertarian. He'll pop up in discussions on FB and "Well actually, I've put these statistics in a spreadsheet, and things aren't as bad as we're being told, everyone's overreacting, open things back up".
