Thrive to spite them

Starting next week our hours are cut down to 30 a week. They did this last summer. But last summer that meant leaving at 3:45 or coming in at 3:30. Now it just means coming in at 10:45 instead of 10:30, getting an hour break instead of half hour and being scheduled off as soon as the store closes. But we have to shut things down so probably means leaving about 10 mins earlier.

So basically the same hours.

One co worker was mad because she can't pick up an second job with those hours but we are open 11-6.

We are also getting customers complaining because we are not enforcing the mask rule but other stores in the mall are. I don't know what to say and the only direction we've been given is to tell them we can only put up signs not enforce it.

But other stores are enforcing it....

However a fist fight almost broke out in one of the returns line yesterday.

And yesterday we had a line at the other return register. Three women standing behind the giant Returns only Sign mad because they had been waiting to check out.

One of them told me "well I saw the sign but assumed it didn't really matter."

On the other hand home life has been quieter so that is something.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

How did we get to halfway through July without hardly trying?

DUKboat tours are starting up again, so another little slice of normality returns to Boston. OTOH, tourism is something like a tenth of what it was. I also expect the people who run it are going to be fanatical about masks, so even if it's 100% coughing/sneezing Florida tourists, they should do OK.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Has anyone tried apple slices in yogurt?

Are they secretly cake?

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Today has been...a day. My parents, as they usually do, got up early to head home. Which woke Mr. S up before 6. Then work was stressful, with samples ordered under the wrong protocol, or ending up in the wrong place.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Not enough things are secretly cake.

Not enough things are secretly cake.

I dunno, I was on the internet this weekend and I now feel that far too many things are secretly cake.

Then I need to lodge a complaint about my dang house and its contents.
