That cranberry sauce looks delicious, David!
I've baked my pies (one pumpkin, one apple), put the white wine in the fridge, thawed the Cornish hens, and prepped the sweet potatoes for tomorrow's casserole. I also dug out the mystery silverware and polished it. I think there are about three hours of food prep, furniture moving, and cleaning tomorrow, which isn't too bad. And I'm really looking forward to decorating for Christmas on Friday.
I have an apple crisp in the oven (made with a mix of Granny Smiths and honeycrisps, because either one alone doesn't make for the ideal apple crisp), Tim makes rolls in the morning, we have a bunch of fancy cheeses and crackers for appetizers, and I'll grab wine from the wine cabinet on the way out the door.
Tim's nephew is smoking some turkey breasts tonight, and I cannot wait to dig in to those. Yum! I offered to roast Brussels sprouts and almost got voted off the island. Philistines.
Unfortunately, I am fighting a cold/sinus badness, so I'm going to make a hot toddy or two and hope the booze kicks its ass.

We'll see! The candied citrus comes out...well, pretty sweet what with it being candied. I think I'll try a leeetle bit chopped up tiny to start and see how it works.
I was able to clean off my implements through the exciting power of Boiling Hot Water.
Now I'm roasting mushrooms with onions and garlic for my mushroom first course.
Roasted pumpkins, assembled stuffing, made cranberry sauce and toasted pumpkin seeds. Tomorrow we stuff the pumpkins and heat them up, and heat up the turkey drumsticks, green beans, sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and gravy that other people kindly cooked for us in exchange for money.
The weather app says it's not supposed to rain on the 5k, so that's nice. Also does not say Unhealthy Air Quality for the first time in a while. Very nice.
I have accomplished apple-cranberry pie, and cranberry sauce. My friend brought the turkey over and I smeared it with a mixture of garlic and herbes de provence and salt and pepper and olive oil and melted butter. And that's resting in the fridge. So I guess I'm ready.
It's a bit of work for only 3 people. But I like to host.
The down side is only one pie: I just can't justify making 2 for 3 people.
juliana, I might be able to help you with an API question if you haven't gotten an answer already.
My friends are ridiculous, but we are braiding hair and singing "poor unfortunate souls" while drinking and eating homemade ravioli. Good times. Except for the part where I fell off my damn scooter again and stepped down on my foot again. Aaaargh. (Earlier today I ALSO tipped off but managed to fall on my knee instead)
We ended up with two pies, somehow. Ordered the pumpkin and, for reasons that are not clear to me, were also given an apple cranberry. Which is fine with me, eating pie for days is no hardship in my book.
Good day to the Buffistas, for whom I am most grateful!
DH and one of my kids are putting up holiday lights and doing various other house type chores. Kid is paying off his purchase of my old car with labor so DH is finding stuff for him to do in addition to the construction, which I banned today. BIL is bringing pies, SIL is bringing Mac & Cheese and some other veggie thing. MIL always brings more than I anticipate. I stopped by son's house and warned him that he would be fetched in the morning.
I suppose I should get decent clothes on before he gets here.
I am about to watch Pangs!
Advice needed- I want to do something nice for the Dunkin Donuts people next to my house for Christmas. I get coffee every day and they always remember my weird order (hot coffee with ice) and greet me kindly. I don't want to leave anyone out, so maybe a bag of candy for them to share? I already give them major kudos on the app for being awesome.
