I'm trying to get my bosses to sign onto a plan in which I load my laptop, my bike, and my dog into my hatchback and drive to Colorado, where I crash with my brother's family for a month. Change of scene, change of pace, biking and hiking and games with the kids. Could be great. But I have to get permission to go, and have to figure out how to do a two-day drive safely...

I'm having a grandson. Had big family joint video call. I'm delighted. My poor MIL though. She has 6 grandsons and now the first great grandchild is a boy too. This be how the Holt genes roll. She's still hoping for a girl someday. I did remind her she could have tea parties with boys and she agreed.

That kind of thing is so funny -- we are mostly girls on both sides of my family!
