In better news, I just heard from my niece who goes to Sarah Lawrence and apparently she's moving into an apartment on the Upper West Side 3 blocks from the park. With her friend, which I think means boyfriend, I heard she's been staying at his place since she couldn't be on campus. Anyway, I don't understand how she managed that, but good for her, right?

Toddson, did the original shitty movers have insurance? I know it won't replace the sentimental value of what was lost but you should absolutely sue the living crap out of them if you have the spoons to do so.
I am so sorry, Toddson. That is really, really, a lot. {{}}
I checked and the insurance is limited ... something like $0.60 per pound.
Toddson, that is horrible. I am so sorry.
Oh Todd, I am overwhelmed and exhausted just reading it. It would have been enough of a project to move after several decades without the added complications of a pandemic. I'm so sorry this has been so fraught.

Also, what Jessica said.
Seriously, my country. Seriously.
I feel ya, Shir. Seriously, I understand too well.
In the middle of a pandemic, with a large chunk of my city being barricaded and this whole political situation. There have been stories about the people in The Villages who had a little parade with one guy shouting "white power" that t*mp tweeted ... and it took the White House staff three hours to get in touch with him to delete the tweet because he was playing golf. And had left his phone ... somewhere. Three hours? what if there had been an actual emergency - would they call someone in the secret service around him to try to get in touch? or is the golf so sacred that it can't be interrupted?
Toddson - I would absolutely keep a list of every item you are missing and call the moving office and make a claim for them.
I am sorry there is so much going on and so much to do.
ION - the work day is not over yet and I am drinking wine.
Toddson, oh, that's too much! I'm so sorry.
Shir, I will sit with you on the "Politics, what the geebling bleep" bench.
Atropa, it's strange to be wishing that it's "only" existential dread distressing you, but that seems to be the reality we're in. May the doctor have some reassuring news for you.
Hey, ND! Yeah, DNA Painter and Genetic Affairs for clustering. Whenever I see an Ancestry suggestion for how a new match might be related, I kind of want to pat it and say "No, shhhh, that's sweet, I'm dealing with multiple 'family wreaths' here, go have a nap, I got this".
I'm sorry, Toddson. That is a lot to have to deal with.
