Oh, such happy news, Laura! Congrats to all involved!
I look at Tulsa and the amazingness of TikTok and Teens, etc. and am joyed.
And then I look at Kentucky closing--what--90% of their polling places and realize that 45 is not going to give up. He--and his machine--will shut down polling or declare some emergency and "suspend," delay, or "postpone" the election. Indefinitely. He may appear defeated, but he and his supporters are not going to be ousted by legal or traditional means. If they can't cheat their way back into the White House, they'll do it by fiat.
I hope I'm wrong.
Yay, Laura! Y'all have good plans.

He's struggling in the swing states he took in 2016: Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania. He's straight up behind in those states. And there are several more states that are in play now like Florida and Arizona.
He's even vulnerable in Georgia, North Carolina and even Texas is close (shockingly).
Also, the Senate is seriously in play right now with GOP incumbents polling behind their challengers in GA, AZ, ME, CO.
He's lost the independent voters he won in 2016, the suburbs that voted against him in 2018 are even stronger against, and he's losing some Evangelical voters, and a good number of Catholic voters.
Before Covid and the BLM protests he might have squeaked out an electoral victory based on the economy, but everything is mitigating against him right now and his base is not a majority.
Also, I think he's not-well and is not really interested in another four years. I think he would excuse away his loss as being an aberration of the pandemic and slink away.
[knock wood]
Yay Laura grandbaby! That kid will be well loved.
Zen and David speak to me with their take on Tulsa.

I'm pretty sure the Constitution says the election happens on X day and the new term begins on Y day and that even if voting is somehow prevented, States have the responsibility and means to select electors.
One of our legal eagles can understand and convey it better.
What he can (and surely would) do is insist he won and that the government is illegitimate. How far would/could he take that? I seriously doubt the military would support him, but there are other armed entities who would fire away while he holes up with some sleazy dictator insisting he heads the legitimate government in exile. That's a bit of ugliness that could go on for a spell.
Yay Laura!
Y'all I am up and out so early for me. I was up before the alarm at 4:40.
Nerves both good and bad as I head to the airport and to get Miley. Stressed about flying, but excited for dog.
Reminder that family does not know about this, so no mention on FB please.
And of course I had to ask the person behind me at security to step back.
So excited for you and your (growing) family, Laura!
My cousin (my sole remaining cousin, *sob*) is down in Myrtle Beach, clearing out the remaining houses left by my uncle and deceased cousin, this task having been put off because of Our Current Ongoing Emergency. She and I talked on the phone last night, and it looks like shipping the (five) boxes of antique china that belonged to my grandmother will cost more than the (not rare, not expensive) pattern costs on the open market, and certainly more than we'd get if we sold it to a dealer.
I'm kind of torn -- I'm not a china person, the fanciest I get is my nice Corelle, which can go right into the dishwasher, and I never host dinner parties. So grandma's china would be pretty much staying in boxes and getting stored in the cellar.
So it would be a link to the past going away.
