You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Today is the first day of summer session at the community college, and it finally dawned on me that I will probably never meet a single one of my current set of students face-to-face. At least in the spring, I had met all of my uni students, or at least seen them occasionally even if they only interacted with me by showing up for class and turning in homework. There's usually even more interaction with my CC students because it's both a much smaller group and because there's a lab every night. You walk around and talk during down time. I usually have their names matched to faces by the second session. I'm gonna miss that.

OTOH, it's the first day of summer session, and I rode down to the sea wall on a gorgeous day and then napped for two hours afterwards. I never used to be able to do that on class days. You win some, you lose some.

Punishingly Intricate

Why is the meeting so infuriating, flea?

information libertarian

It's a managers' meeting where information is communicated that could be done in an email, and any raising of concerns or questions about the top-down directives is treated as disloyal. It's basically a daily half-hour of feeling disrespected and like my professional opinions don't matter. Every day. Edit: it used to be once a month, and I'd feel like this for the rest of the day. It also used to be 4 hours long. But I still think the daily part is worse.

That's gonna be weird, DX. Pretty nice upside, though.

my day is supposed to be over i 8 minutes but I have way more work than that left to do and leaving it for tomorrow will just make tomorrow overwhelming. Ugh.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

flea, I'm with your boss, then. Fuck that meeting!

DXM, it's so good to see you around here more! And that does sound like a nice day, all things considered.

flea, I'm with your boss, then. Fuck that meeting!

Why is this monthly meeting now DAILY? That's insane.

My boss literally suggested I turn the volume down and read a magazine, but somehow I can't bring myself to.

Ugh. Maybe you could make up a bingo card of all the awful things that happen in this meeting so you can focus on playing a game, and reward yourself with stuff every time you "win"?

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

flea, I'm with your boss, then. Fuck that meeting!

Why is this monthly meeting now DAILY? That's insane.

Agreed on both points.

... I am kind of over having various corporations make woke statements on Twitter and Instagram. Is it helpful to have PG Tibs make a big statement about how Black Lives Matter?

I mean, maybe for their employees, I guess? I dunno. I would rather see corporations actually do things than make statements.

Well, it's maybe a good thing that they all feel like it would be disaster not to say something? But agreed, better if they were doing something concrete and mentioning that (or just doing something would be my preference but that doesn't seem at all likely)
