Coding and Sleeping

Sounds like it's really different elsewhere in the country.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Required here also. I see people walking without them and some teenaged boys hanging out on the corner when I drove around, but in stores, everyone has been wearing one.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Required by law in NY and I haven't seen anyone not complying indoors. (The guidelines for outdoors are a bit fuzzy - most folks wear masks to walk around town but not to exercise. We went for a hike this weekend and it was about 50/50 on the trails.)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Just curious, about how many people wear masks when you are at a store these days? Seems like it's fallen to about 10% in my area.

It's mandatory in San Francisco. If you do not wear one you are kicked out. In fact, I got into a yelling fight with a guy at a cafe last week on this very subject. He left.

I told him he was an asshole and has endangering the people who work there.

He said he didn't like my tone.

I told him that if he acted like an asshole he should expect to be notified of this fact.

He said he was going to kick my ass.

I said he had no excuse for his selfish behavior. The signs were clearly posted on the front of the cafe. Then I turned my back on him. They gave him his bagel and he left in his nice new SUV.

So except for him it's been 100%.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Gud, don't let anyone interfere with your freedom to wear a mask!

In my area, a large majority wear masks indoors. Outdoors, not so much.

I don't wear a mask when I'm just walking outside alone or going to a drive-thru, but any time I actually go into a store I'll be wearing one. Few are wearing masks outdoors or at grocery stores here, but at least actual store employees and restaurant workers seem to be wearing them.

oh, as usual dear ... I guess it seemed like a good idea.

A black widow bite as a toddler resulted in horrible painful surgeries for my uncle and being lame all his life. The doctors told my grandparents he was lucky to have survived it.

Our wings are not tired.

Just curious, about how many people wear masks when you are at a store these days?

100% in Broward & Dade counties (Fort Lauderdale & Miami), and still about 90% in Palm Beach county although they aren't required here anymore.

eta: some stores in PBC require them despite the state lifting the requirement

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I don't see many people wearing masks outside, and I don't wear one if I'm taking a walk outside. But if I stop to talk to someone, it's from a distance of at least 6 feet, and we don't talk long.

We went over to my mom's for Mother's Day, and the weather was warm enough that we sat outside* 6 feet apart (probably more), but didn't wear masks. No hugging, though, and I gave her her Mother's Day gift like a hostage exchange: she said, "I'll stand over here, you put the bag on the ground and back away, and then I'll come pick it up." Which was sensible, but fucking hilarious the way it was phrased.

*(If it was cold, the plan was to sit in their garage 6 feet apart, with space heaters, because my mom and stepdad are being super cautious and haven't had anyone in their house except them since March. And, you know, my Mom will be 74 next month, which makes my stepdad...62, I think. So my mom is definitely in a high-risk group. I'm not going to insist on going in their house if they're going to get stressed out about it.)

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I have not left the house in a gazillion years. TCG and ltc don't wear masks when they're outside (they don't get anywhere near anyone), but TCG does wear them if anyone else comes into the building he works in or if he does any errands.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

It's mandatory in San Francisco.

We even masked up when ordering from the carhop at Mel's Diner yesterday. There's a fair amount of people who don't wear a mask outside in North Beach, especially around the park, but we try to avoid those areas.

(As an aside, Mel's Diner's food is just okay, but MY GODS it was nice to be eating somewhere Not Our House. Even if it was our car.)
