Most people is pretty quiet right about now. Me, I see a stiff -- one I didn't have to kill myself -- I just get, the urge to, you know, do stuff. Like work out, run around, maybe get some trim if there's a willin' woman about... not that I get flush from corpses or anything. I ain't crazy.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

The weekly conference call that was taking 10 minutes back in February just lasted over an hour. I have so much on my to do list still but it is all going to have to wait until tomorrow because if I work any more today I will cry. The end.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

ltc is in a mood because TCG had meetings today at lunch and at dinner time. He was home in between, but her schedule is still messed up and she's annoyed. Also mommy doesn't make things as fun as daddy does.

Aw, poor ltc. Getting used to not having the parent you want when you want them is tough!!

Went to the doctor today and he did an ultrasound and said he didn't think I had a tear or anything in my shoulder....but I do have frozen shoulder. Booooo. Also, owwww. So he set me up right then and there to get a cortisone shot in the shoulder to hopefully help the pain (even if it doesn't help the range of motion). Any Buffista experience/advice on this? He basically said there's not much you can do and it lasts 1-3 years(!!!)

meara - I've had cortisone shots in my hip and they helped quite a bit with the pain, but they only last about 3 months. Or to be more exact, they help really well for about a month and then slowly wear off over the remaining two months.

Good luck. I've never had a frozen shoulder so can't comment on that part.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

No one ever gave me a shot for my frozen shoulder, and the PT got me like 75-80% better?

Our wings are not tired.

Ouch, meara. Other than that I got nothing.

Also mommy doesn't make things as fun as daddy does.

Oh I remember those days well. It was very frustrating for all parties.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

I never saw an MD, I went to my chiropractor for my frozen shoulder last year. He did wonders for me. And when ibuprofen wouldn't even touch the pain, I got edibles and a tincture from MedMen (lowest THC I could find) for the pain. Good luck. That MFer was about the worse pain I've ever known.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Meara! I went to the same ortho that the Celtics used (I didn't know it at the time), and the doctor said: without treatment it will resolve itself in a year or so. But with a cortisone shot and PT, it will resolve in 6 months or less.

And I said, "I'm too young not to be able to reach the top shelf! Let's do it!"

I really only had pain for about a week -- but then I just couldn't raise my arm much above shoulder level (which is why it's called frozen shoulder, I suppose!) -- it wasn't painful, it just wouldn't MOVE.

The PT really did start loosening it up and noticeably fast, probably helped by the fact that I actually did the exercises on my own. The sessions had both warm compresses, cold compresses, and session with some mild electrical stimulation of the muscles. Not sure what the hell it was that worked out of all that, but it really did seem to help.

Anyway, years later, I can still reach and scratch the point of my shoulder blade on the opposite side of my back when I feel like it, so all is well.

That's awesome, Theo! For me the reason I went to the doc is I'm still having significant sharp boulder pain when I make certain motions/put weight on it in certain positions, and it's been three months since it started and hurts more, not less! The range of motion is super secondary, for me—it's not convenient, but it's not the worst (since right now I'm not dancing and I'm pretty ambidextrous!)

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I've been having similar pain in my shoulder, reminding me of the tendonitis I used to get back when I played softball. I figure it'll go away eventually, like it used to. Meanwhile I've just been using my left arm for stretchy motions. It's tough gettin' old.
