So lots of stuff here is opening tomorrow at 50% capacity (however that is going to be determined). The only stores I have seen monitoring people entering are Trader Joe's and the local Ace. The other grocery stores I've seen have no lines and no one at the door - Lowes and Home Depot - the same. I mean maybe they are counting and they are no where near capacity, but I do not trust people.
Looks like my big big big boss the County Exec and the city mayor agree that it is too soon to re-open anything not already open "For the Baltimore region to safely move into all of Phase One, we need more access to personal protective equipment, as well as increased testing capacity and more robust contact tracing. We've seen some progress in each of these areas, but we have to do even more."
A very good restaurant in Maryland - The Inn at Little Washington - will be opening at 50% capacity. They've acquired mannequins, dressed them in 1940s style clothing and have them at alternate tables. The wait staff have been instructed to treat them as customers, to the extent of pouring wine for them.
There are stores bigger than us, with more staff, and that sell more expensive items that can't do as well as us in either sales or units picked and shipped.
Wow!

That is so crazy I kind of love it.

I'm looking forward to when one of them demands to talk to a manager.
Wisconsin is a shit show.
I'll explain. No, is too long, lemme sum up:
Dem governor issues Safer at Home order, then extends it.
GOP controlled Assembly and State Senate (thank you, gerrymandering) file a lawsuit stating the state health department official who issued the ruling overstepped her bounds.
GOP packed conservative state Supreme Court (with TWO Scott Walker APPOINTEES, 5-2 advantage) rules on the order.
IGNORES the 6 day stay which would allow time to figure out a state plan if they overturn the Safer at Home order.
They overturn Safer at Home.
Idiots rejoice, bars fill up.
Some counties are trying to put the horse back in the barn by issuing county wide orders but see above, re: Shit Show.
OMG Cash. Yeesh.
That's impressive, askye!
I saw a picture somewhere of the restaurant with mannequins and it looks kinda creepy but does seem like an effective tool to keep people from trying to squeeze into an open table that would be just barely over the limit...
I dislike the person I have become, and the illness I wish upon the idiots. But I can't help it. They deserve what they get, but the rest of the citizens they will come in contact with don't.
Cashmere, I just saw a picture on Twitter: 45 minutes after the ruling, the bars are full. ARGH.
I'm so grateful to live in a county & state which is handling this reasonably well. All things considered.
My city has opened retail stores and restaurants for 25% occupancy with outdoor eating at 6' separation. Bars are only take out. They opened the beaches because of the state order, but there was quite a bit of anger at the city council meeting with the police asking how they could possibly enforce distancing rules on the beach.
eta: masks still required and such, and dentists and elective stuff okay with CDC measures taken
I've been sleeping better (since my doctor told me to take melatonin every night and supplement it with a sleep aid when necessary), but I couldn't get to sleep last night. So I was awake at 4AM when the email came in from the UK-based recruiter that the company in Florida...had made an offer to another candidate and would be in touch with Husband if that fell through.
So it sounds like the exact same situation as two weeks ago, except they dragged it out for another two weeks.
