I am not...I am not the damsel in distress. I am not some case. I have to work this. I've lived in a cave for 5 years in a world where they killed my kind like cattle. I am not going to be cut down by some monster flu. I am better than that. What a wonder...how very scared I am.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

I miss my mother every damn day, but oh my Dog am I glad she didn't live to see this. And I feel like a terrible son for feeling that way.

If it makes you feel any better, Karl, you are not alone. I miss my mother so much - but I don't know what I would have done if I had to worry about her through all of this. So, yes, being relieved that they're not going through a pandemic with us is a perfectly valid way to feel.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

A friend's husband died in January, after a long horrific decline with Alzheimers. The only silver lining that I can see is that she didn't have to try to take care of him now, when it would be so much more difficult.

Karl, you are far from the only person thinking that.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Much love and ~ma to Buffistas who are having a difficult time with Mother's day, especially this year. I can only imagine that the social distancing from everything makes is harder. ♡

Theo, this is good news!

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

So I tried to log into the online system I use at the uni for exams and grading and such to update a few grades and to see how the final is proceeding, and all I'm getting is a message, "Table "sessions" does not exist". That can't be good.

What type of LMS are you using, DXMachina?

Moodle. It's working again, but this is the second time in as many days. Finals week load issues. The good news is that it happens early in the morning, because apparently none of my student have noticed. I have yet to receive a "freaking out" e-mails. Or else they are used to wonky tech.

Our wings are not tired.

Karl, you are far from the only person thinking that.

My mother died one week before the 2016 election, and even that soon after her passing I felt gratitude that she didn't know what was happening.

We met at an ice cream shop for mother's day with my DIL's parents. Rain checks on hugs.
