"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Keep in mind, the last poll I saw showed 75% of the country in favor of a slow re-open. It just takes a few loud idiots to make all this noise.

What is even happening?

Meara, I hope your recovery goes well.

Hey Buffistas, every week, Wizarding World will have a celebrity reading a chapter of Harry Potter. For the inaugural week, it's none other than Daniel Radcliffe.

Take a listen: [link]

Upcoming readers include: Stephen Fry, David Beckham, Dakota Fanning, Claudia Kim, Noma Dumezweni, and Eddie Redmayne.

Here's more info: [link]

I figured it's something to pass the time.

Our wings are not tired.

Hope the sleep found you both, meara & Hil!

This!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! May the corona blues go away soon. We are having tacos and jalapeño margaritas tonight because, hey, tacos and margaritas. My DIL's parents are coming over and we are celebrating in the driveway, although really I have plenty of room inside for distancing for 6 people. DIL's mom is a teacher in the Florida virtual school, but they used to have monthly in-person meetings. It wasn't as big a transition for her. We got together in the parking lot of an ice cream shop a week or so ago and it was quite nice so we decided we could forgo the hugs and still get together safely once a week. I see the kids every day since they live here, but they miss her parents.

Oh, and big news, the kids are buying a townhouse! We went up over the weekend to check out the community and gave it a thumbs up. We love having them here, but they are 25 years old and looking to start their own family. They put in the offer, which was accepted. So assuming the inspections go well they will be home owners. Very excited for them. They were already pre-qualified for a lot more on a mortgage so that should be fine. They are absurdly practical and have all their ducks in a row. Woo!

Unfortunately those idiots like to get in other people's faces, and will be spreading any germs their idiocy nets them. If the effects of the pandemic only hit people who flout safety measures I'd be cheering on the Proud Boys Used PPE Licking Jamboree.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm thinking of chalking PLAGUE HOUSE on the sidewalk of the guy down the block who isn't wearing a mask and standing out on the curb.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Yeah, I'm embarrassed and infuriated that the KKK hood was actually here in San Diego County (Santee is its own city - referred to by locals as Klantee, BTW. But still, we like to believe we're better than this sort of thing in CA). The news last night said Santee sheriffs are seeking the guy to press charges.

Thrive to spite them

Talked to Mom =she is still partially moved but her landlady said she could take her time moving the rest of the stuff (the landlady owns both her new and old place). Mom also said we should have gotten together outside some place and 6 feet apart while I wasn't at work and I'm so torn because I want to see mom but I've also been worried about dragging germs around. I probably should have done that. I told her if she wants to drive down here she can sit in her car and I'll stand on the porch and we can talk using the phoen or just yelling. But if I see mom I'll want to hug her.

And she is worried about her cat adjusting to be an inside cat but someone who was helping her moved fell in love with the kitty and offered to take him if he can't adjust.

People were nicer at work, but we were very very lightly staffed and we did find one dressing room where someone moved the barrier and tried something on. I also heard a lot of "but I'm not going to try it on in the dressing room" I do not care do not pull your pants over your shorts. Although at least you didn't take off your shorts first so I guess that's a win.

Macy's had their mall entrance open, which I didn't think they could do. I'm waiting for complaints about how Macy's policies aren't as strict as ours.

And one person was bitching about all the measures and over reaction and I finally said "at least you don't have to worry about catching a cold or anything else right now"

And then there's this jerk: [link]

Askye, I hope your customers are as reasonable as possible. I'm glad your mom's move is going OK.

Laura, congrats to your kids on their new place!

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

My god, what is wrong with people? I just read the GQ story about the coronavirus outbreak on the Diamond Princess: it's a horror show. And it's apparent that 45 delegated his decision-making to his SIL, who similarly delegated it to his banker friends and Fox News anchors.

Can we please send all of these people to jail for depraved indifference to human life? Maybe then we'll get some criminal justice reform...
