"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Maria, I am sorry things are so difficult.

msbelle, you are a saint for not setting this person on fire. My work is processing documents (to other ends and means), and I'm currently cursing previous cataloger for not cataloging stuff in the way it should be done so I'm opening a file after another in a 34 boxes archive and correcting their catalog. Thankfully the archive in itself is interesting and my boss is understanding, but whyyyyy putting together things that don't belong together/should have been thrown out in one file and adding a random year to each file, why.

I also met with my parents today for a short while after a month of them asking me to and promises that they'll wear masks and be diligent. Guess who didn't wear masks correctly and were less than diligent? I kept my distance and mask at all times, but it was a good reminder why I kept this meeting from happening for so long (we're currently in a somewhat good COVID-19 situation in my country so I allowed it).

Herding cats for fun

Heh. Captain Trumps. Why have I not heard this one before? At least it will be a week cooped up at home with pay.

What is even happening?

I somehow missed the video from Gris. I've got to go find and watch it.

Wow, Maria. That's so much. I hope your mom feels better soon and wish you and MedicGuy some boredom.

msbelle, I think that person is now my nemesis too.

Shir, I am glad you got to see your parents. I remember how they wanted to make plans for Passover. My mom didn't know her (cloth) mask was supposed to go under her chin, but a neighbor in her building clued her in.

Little things like that are one of the problems with not being able to see our older parents. It never occurred to me that she wouldn't know that.

Our wings are not tired.

Ugh, sorry Theodosia.

Things with my son are shakier than ever. He is pretty off the rails. To further complicate issues, last night, while he was at work his apartment water heater blew up. 18 years old and rusted out. So his roommate called us and we rushed over and got the water turned off and helped push the water outside. Fortunately, there was a door to the outside nearby. His roomie picked him up at midnight and told him what was up. Then later the roommate messaged me to let me know he was having a huge blowout fight with his girlfriend. Of course I didn't see this until morning. It looks like they broke up. I stopped by but didn't wake son up, just coordinated the management company going there with the roommate. Drama.

My doctor, who had me take a zillion tests for cardiac and pulmonary issues, tells me my chest pain is stress, all tests look great. He was actually super sweet as he has a daughter with issues similar to my son and said there just isn't anything harder than helplessly watching them self-destruct. He did give me scripts for my blood pressure, which sucks, and anxiety, and something for the chest tightness. He promises to get me off them asap, and I have to go back again next week. He didn't even abuse me about my weight gain, although he reminded me that the bad cholesterol and BP issues would go away with the weight.

Yes you do! It is uplifting and exhausting at the same time.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Yikes. A good reminder that all existing stresses pretty much get stressier under these conditions.

Thrive to spite them

Laura I hope the meds help you quickly..

Today is better at work. Not as many people . I forgot lunch so had to go through drive thru. Which sucks.

I had got a Costco order via instacart ready on Wed and then didn't order it until today. Accidentally set it to deliver in the morning but was ok I guess. The instacart shopper messaged me thery were out of .. everything. I ended up with 3 packs of beef loin, instead of top round, pot roast , and beef stew. I'm trying to make less meat centric meals , but that hasn't been a popular thing in the house

My great niece is having a baby shower via Facebook Live. Cool to do it that way. No games! Can multitask!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

God, at first I thought you said she was having a baby via FB Live.
