Natter 76: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Foaminess
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
My interview was also fine, though I'm side-eyeing the fact that they can't tell me if it would be contract or full-time (or contract to full-time), and they may not even know when they're ready to hire. So I'm just supposed to accept a job and not know those details? Um.
Yeah, why not pause the interviewing, if things are so up in the air? (I mean, I feel like companies can already tell if they are extra busy or not at all busy right now??)
I'm sorry to hear about your uncle, Calli. Holding you, your aunt, and your family in my thoughts.
My husband's aunt is at Mass General. She's been intubated and her xrays are consistent with Covid-19.
How are things with the Zmayhem today?
Oh, Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear that. MGH is gold-standard care, though, so there's that, so my fingers are crossed.
Yeah, why not pause the interviewing, if things are so up in the air?
I'm not even sure if it's because of he current situation. Which doesn't make them look any better.
Yikes, Cindy.
And Dana, that's ridic.
Also ridic: my sister just broke her ankle slipping on wet grass. Wtf! Not good timing also I know she wants to be like her big sister but geez. It's not as bad as mine but she's seeing the ortho tomorrow to find out if she gets a cast or surgery or what. (She has xrays at urgent care)
Omg. My little sister just broke her ankle.
Oh dear! Having any medical issue right now is just fraught.
Yeah, why not pause the interviewing, if things are so up in the air?
The everything up in the air part of this is just awful. For everyone all at the same time.
My son tells me they have 6' blue squares on the floor in his grocery that are supposed to guide shoppers to distance properly. Not surprisingly they aren't paying a whole lot of attention to the signs. It is like 50/50 out there with people who are masked and gloved and wiping down stuff, and those who seem oblivious completely.
I ran out of dog food because my autoship was running late so I texted a neighbor that would surely have plenty. I left a solo cup on his front step with wine in it covered with a plastic bowl. He took the wine, filled the bowl with dog food and left it for me. We agreed to a rain check on hugs.

We're bored. Matilda is dying a streak in her hair.
JZ's temp was under 99 yesterday. Her father is stable, but he's been on the vent for 6 days now.
I want to take a shower, but I can't because I have a package out for delivery that I have to sign for. And they didn't ring our fucking bell yesterday! WE WERE HOME!
That's the only thing we've got going for ourselves right now is we are home to accept deliveries, and Fed-Ex fucked that up.
And can I just note that Deb, and Juliana and Martin have all been absolute champs and kept us in supplies (along with help from our neighbors).
So appreciative to have Buffistas nearby in times of trouble.
{{{Cindy, Cindy's DH, his aunt}}}
Things are not good here. I am not being blunt in public, at all, but I don't think my dad is leaving the hospital. His attending and I went over his past couple of years of records together over the phone today (he is cagey about sharing health info and has been less than forthcoming with any of us); she knew he already has COPD but not the extent of it (his GP is in the city where he's hospitalized but the COPD specialist is here in San Francisco in a different hospital system--the records are shared, but only passively, so unless someone at one location knows to look for a specific record from the other it's not all immediately obvious to everyone), and neither of us knew that his last full PFT's over a year ago showed that his lungs were only at 31% of normal function.
She now thinks that if he's able to be extubated at all he will likely immediately need a trach, and that will likely be a permanent thing. And all of that is predicated on that first "if."
