"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Texas gov is still not ordering a statewide stay-at-home order. I can almost see the argument that we're too big and varied for a single ordnance. And most of the major metropolitan areas already have one kind or another in place. But it's looking more dubious by the day.

That just means the sick people are going to move around and infect the areas that are stay-at-home. I swear to god, I don't understand why people aren't grasping how quickly this virus covers territory. It's plain to see that it's not going to stop at Austin City Limits.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I can almost see the argument that we're too big and varied for a single ordnance.

If New York and California can do it...

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Amy, when I had my appendix removed several years ago, I remember it being extremely painful during recovery. Best wishes for her to have minimal pain ... since I'm older and seriously overweight, it might be easier for her. And boss is ... really unreasonable.

Right? Or why they need to stay at home, no matter where the fuck they live. It's not that hard to grasp.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

We just got a very curiously worded announcement at work that a member of the staff has tested positive, but not to worry because they haven't been in contact with anyone before they showed any symptoms. Because of privacy, et cetera, we (staff and residents) don't know who that is, but it sounds like it was someone out on vacation (several someones) or else the interns who were pulled back by their college more than two weeks ago.

Still, lots of upset and worry. And I'd like to know, even if it's just so that I can worry about the exact person I should be worried about.

Apparently it's impossible to grasp.

One of the Republican governors said they didn't need a stay-at-home order because this problem would be faced and conquered by "personal responsibility."

And I thought, "I want to see Ayn Rand in a Leper Colony fighting off contagion with her personal responsibility."

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

As far as haircuts go, I usually get a trim twice a year, and the last trim was not too long ago, so I'm fine. Gary and Mr. S may be looking a bit shaggy before long.

What are the chances that oat milk will be an adequate substitute for milk for a muffin mix?

I use mostly coconut milk, but occasionally soy and/or oatmilk in my baking all the time, and it turns out splendidly. As in, if I didn't tell you that it was dairy-free, you wouldn't know it.

Right? It looks like, overall, Ohio is doing well on flattening the curve, but then it was in the 60s for the past few days here and there were people playing baseball on the fields around the corner. So, y'know, any gains we make as a whole (country/state/city) are going to be in spite of the jackwagons who think the rules don't apply to them.

Thrive to spite them

So McMasters isn't using a shelter in place but he has closed all pulic beaches and boat ramps, restaurants are take out only and now he is closing all mom essential businesses. So basically doing pretty much everything a shelter in place order would do except telling people to shelter in place.
