Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

What is even happening?

JZ, I'm sorry to hear this news. I'm praying for your dad, you, and your whole family. Much love to you.

Also, the co-worker who's supposed to be cross-training to do my job is barely capable and I'm afraid that even gentle constructive criticism will snap her like a twig.

Not my place, but may I suggest you ass the above situation in the ear, for now. You're sick. You're stuck in a room apart from your family. Your dad is sick. Boo-boo Kitty Co-worker can suck it.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

100% agreed.

The last time we were in church, the sermon was about death and loss, and our minister has been a hospital chaplain, I guess, and he talked about being the person who had to call the family in the middle of the night, and all he would say is, "She's taken a turn. You should come." All this to say, I don't know how much you have to communicate, given everything.

And so much love to all of you.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Oh, JZ. What a terrible situation. I'm so sorry. Hoping for the best possible outcome, and some peace and rest for you, too.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I swerved away from soybeans and quinoa for dinner and ordered ginger chicken and spring rolls through Grubhub. Feels like a good decision.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I developed a bit of a cough this afternoon, but it feels more like post-nasal drip than anything else. I think. I have to figure out how paranoid to be.
