You know, I've saved lives. Dozens. Maybe hundreds. I reattached a girl's leg. Her whole leg. She named her hamster after me. I got a hamster. He drops a box of money, he gets a town.

Thrive to spite them

Jess I'm sorry for your loss.

Talked to my parents today. Dad mentioned I could go down to FL and stay at the beach and I explained I didn't want to spread germs all over the place. But he seems to be doing ok. Mom's potential move has been put on hold for a while with everything going on. She had a Dr appointment first thing this morning and she went. He Dr told her she didn't need to be out at all and she should have stayed home. A neighbor has offered to get her groceries. I didn't ask Dad about that I am just happy he is taking this kind of seriously. She called one grocery store torr to see if they had senior hours and they said no . Which seems short sighted since it is a big area for retirees.

I am so sorry JessiPMoon. I am feeling nostalgic for that name. Thanks so much Hil for helping me with the Indigo Girls. I was so looking forward to it and it making me nostalgic in general.

K, I went and bought $80 worth of edibles (well, $71 but I tipped the guy $9). Hoping they will help me not be so vibrating with anxiety, plus the walk there and back was over a mile, so that was good. About to go meet up with a friend (from 6 feet away) to walk along the water.

My friend who had moved out to the boonies and gotten goats was trying to sell her house (and has people coming to see it tomorrow??) and had moved back into the city, but decided to head back out to the boonies for the coming weeks. I may go drive up there and hang out on her property far away from her (she invited me to).

Plei, you could go yell at them from their front lawn? :) Apparently my sister dropped off shopping for my parents on their stoop and then talked to them from her car while they were in the house, LOL.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Argh, still no laptop delivery from Amazon. Still cannot log into webmail from home. I am getting work done, doing research and drafting letters, but being unable to access my own email is very frustrating.

My one team-member with small children just announced that the local child-care center he uses has closed, so he can no longer work in the office.

If I run around the corner to see if the tiny pharmacy has aloe vera or Tylenol, what is the chance that that is when my laptop will be delivered? Hmm...

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Great, now there's hail and a tornado watch. Those fucking sirens better not go off.

I feel like there might be frogs soon!

I do have to recommend loggind into the Indigo Girls. They are very kind and thoughtful in addition to being good musicians. I did get my laptop, but still really haven't figured out VPN, but almsot everything I need is on Box and other online programs with Dua authentication. I already worked from home a lot.

I will be in next week to work one on one with faculty who literally need me to drive their zoom sessions with students (like operate the mouse and be an emotional support panda). I am hoping after one or two they will be OK with me hosting and manning chat and breakout rooms from home. We are a team of four half people (we have other assignments than online education). I have Diabetes, our lead has Rheumatoid Arthritis, and another person is diagnosed with pneumonia!

Oh dear! I hope your faculty get their shit together.

My mother was trying to tell me they worked from home during the blizzard of 78, but I can't figure out how, with no computers/access to any files/etc. I mean, some could have been writing out of her head, I guess, but not much, given what the actually work was.

information libertarian

She's at the very end of Lafayette, in Clifton.

I'm in Clifton very near the elementary school. I don't know if you remember when we found out your grandparents knew mine - your grandmother passed along an anecdote about my father, a toddler, being frightened that lions were going to get him at his new house. Eventually my grandmother realized he'd been hearing them say they "bought the Lyons house"...

We're doing really well, safe, and mostly able to work, and getting paid, and we have enough computers for everyone, and a strong internet signal, and the kids are cooperating. And I feel terribly guilty. I left work yesterday (after sitting alone in an office all day monitoring a phone and answering emails and making sure payroll was good to go) and it was pouring rain and there were 8-10 people under the overhang in front of another part of the building, getting out of the rain. They were not practicing social distancing. We have an enormous building that is closed to the public, for their and our safety, and yet... our customers are gathering in the rain, because they have no place to go.
