I'm self-medicating with wine and fanfic.
My pile of library books is staring balefully at me and my 4 tabs of fanfic open in Firefox.
Teppy, I have books that I need for work but I cannot resist a second listen to a gay romance audiobook about an astronaut and his capcom. Some things are super hard to resist.
Can't stop watching Schitt's Creek
Dallas has shut down restaurants, bars, movie theaters, etc., for a week starting tonight. Restaurants still open for drive-through, pickup, and delivery.
Huh. City hall is closed. Didn't think about that.
Our town hall is closed, too.
If you can spare some ~ma, would you please send it my sister's way? We had to shut down the bar and dining room tonight, and we can only do take out. She's stressed beyond belief because we have to lay people off, and she's trying to do as much as she can to help them out, but it's never enough. I can't take any of this off of her and I can't help in any other way, so hopefully a bit of ~ma will give her some relief.
This all sucks. I hate it.
I wish we could take these laid off workers and deploy them (paid) as needed and wanted by the people themselves, into the healthcare system. I bet people who work for a restaurant would be great at answering front line calls, Not so safe if they are worried, but we are prepping for disaster and I need to be doing my actual job to ensure the summer semester has students and not answering telemedicine calls and forwarding to providers. It has not come to that, but this is what we are hearing we may be doing.
Sophia, your idea makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately, that kind of sense seems to be in short supply these days.
The office sent out a "clarification" of the telework policy. Half of us are required to telework at a time, rotating every 2 weeks as to who has to telework. The clarification is that managers are supposed to encourage everybody to telework that can, even if it means that 100% of a unit is teleworking.
For me, commuting with CIDP is a major undertaking that leaves me physically wiped out. So I call this a silver lining.
