"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Scrappy, I'm so sorry for your losses.

Because books.

Thanks, Maria!

Virtual hugs to everyone -- Scrappy, Strix, all of us. What a time to be alive?

Our wings are not tired.

I'm sorry, Scrappy.

It is probably a good thing you are all remote because I don't think I could not give hugs.

My sister said she was calling her doctor and requesting her visit be changed to a phone visit. Both my FL siblings are pretty much self quarantining because of their health issues.

Strix, let us know how things go with your mother. Sending more ~ma.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Jesus. A friend on Facebook just posted a picture of his 94-year-old mother pushing a cart in a grocery store, saying how he always takes her to run errands on Mondays and offered to just take her grocery list and shop for her today so she could stay home. But she said no, she wanted to get out of the house and shop herself, so my friend took her and even said how proud he was of her for "not living in fear."

I never thought this friend was particularly stupid, but I am rapidly revising that opinion. Sure. Indulge your 94-year-old mother's death wish and take her to the grocery store that's become an even worse petri dish than usual. And then brag about it on social media.

Our wings are not tired.

Monday morning and my doctors are calling me looking to set up telemedicine options for seeing their patients.

And I am about to eat an egg salad sandwich for lunch. Prepared egg salad on Ezekiel bread because Whole Foods was out of eggs and any other kind of bread. It's all good. I didn't want to make egg salad anyway.

Oh, Steph, I meant to say, I have a local friend who has lived through two brain aneurysms, including surgeries, and she just had her first manuscript accepted for publication. So there's hope for your friend! What a thing, though -- emergency brain surgery must be terrifying. I hope he's healing well.

Last time I checked with his wife, she said he was doing pretty well. He just has a lot of recovery in front of him.

Good grief! Just stay home people! Yes, I get some people can't, but the rest of them need to stop. The only time I left the house so far was to drive my son to work and I didn't get out of the car. I'll happily go for walks or to the beach if I get restless, or even to pick up take out, but otherwise the world will only see my virtual presence.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Mom is back, with polyps snipped and sent off for biopsy. All good. So, so tired...

Note: my precautions (mask for mom, disposable latex gloves from home for all of us, Clorox wiping wheelchair with my own supply) in a small MO hospital got us weird looks from other patients, but the staff about cried with gratitude. The gurneys were coming back WET with disinfectant...medical staff is NOT fucking around RN, even in small town Bible belt.
