My school closed today. Spring break is next week, so they started it tomorrow instead, and we've been told to start preparing to teach remotely the week we get back. It was the right call. People are freaked and already keeping kids home. There are 80 kids in our 5th grade, and 17 were out today.

Yo. Hey y'all, long time no see. I keep up with lots of peeps via SM, but I felt a need for ye olde stomping grounds, to check in on everyone. What a vital need this site fulfilled for me in 2001.
My kid goes on break next week in DE for two weeks, then they're going virtual classrooms after for a minimum of 2 weeks. He was supposed to visit Ice & Ireland during break -- that has been cancelled since last week.
My dad died in November--he was in a nursing home and FUCK I was grateful to see him go (Alzheimers), but I am so tearfully grateful now.
But Mom is 76, has diabetes, 1.5 lungs and COPD. She has an outpatient hospital procedure scheduled for Tuesday and I am anxious AF about taking her to a hospital, not the procedure.
So Dan is going to work only and I only leave for necessities. We're self-isolating as much as possible because my sister and I are her primary caregivers now.
And me? I'm cleaning my anxiety away while having loud solo dance parties. And watching every damn horror movie ever made. YMMV.
My office is moving slowly towards WFH except the system is really not designed for so many people to be remote. I tried to log in yesterday and couldn't at all. So we will see.
If everyone in my office does WFH it'll be social distancing for me to be in the office, right? Especially if I start riding my bike in... But if they find someone in the building who tests positive, I'm worried they will shut the whole building down, all two towers/17 floors of us.
My sister & I are supposed to fly to Colorado in 9 days, but I'm beginning to think that won't happen.
Yeah, they just told my office to WFH next week, but acknowledged that some people will have to go in, and others can if they want -- with just some, it's still distancing...
Debet, I might not know anyone, but I am VERY NETWORKED, so he should connect with me on LinkedIn.
My office is supposed to WFH until further notice. The office won't be locked or anything, but we are discouraged from coming in. Due to security concerns, we are not allowed to print at home. Which may become an issue.
Of course, for me, the office is a 15 minute walk away and I have an office, so it's easy for me to have "social distance"
Our offices all pretty much went work from home this week and we're doing am Everyone Works from Home test next week. I'm sure it's much more complicated for our call center folks but evidently it's possible. I'm going to try to spend some money at neighborhood businesses this weekend.
We're asking people not to return their library books and waiving all fines!
Awwwww YISS.
Our friends' wedding is still on for tomorrow, but everyone is being cautious about handwashing and no hugging (yes!) and such. The shitty part is that the maid of honor, who lives in NOLA, was on the fence about coming, because it would mean flying, and she's immunocompromised. But she decided that the bride is her best friend and she was going to come anyway -- her flight was supposed to get in this evening -- and apparently there's talk of grounding domestic flights as soon as Sunday (?). (I honestly don't know where she got that from; it's just what she said.) So she decided at like 6:30 tonight to not come, which is probably for the best given her health, but it still really sucks. We'll FaceTime the ceremony for her, but it really does suck.
Aw, that is too bad!
Thanks, Plei. Will do.
