if enough universities take step of suspending classes it gets to be a liability issue for those who don't.
I read last night that Ohio State is moving to all-online classes. That's a big damn school.

The University I work at is apparently still planning on in-person classes next week (after Spring Break) but I really wish they'd go online so that the kids would keep their germs in their hometowns and not bring them here.
Okay, so far, so good. Salary good. We'd relocate to the Atlantic side of Florida, which could be worse. Yes, there hurricanes, but presumably no snow.

Yeah, I'm at another Big Ten school, so their example may be persuasive to our administration. The schools cooperate on many academic issues at this point.
Nilly! So good to see your pixels, even if it's due to self-quarantine. I hope all turns out clear.
We had a funeral for a longtime friend of my mom's today. She was fine until the part came to walk past the (open) casket, and that really shook her up. Then out of the funeral and into the dumpster fire at work. This is a very Monday-ish Tuesday so far.

Glad to hear that and continuing ~ma, Dana!
My new boss just lost her mother unexpectedly and is out all week.
Oh, poor woman. How is that for you finding your feet, msbelle?
It's so great to hear about your kids, Nilly! I hope you can de-isolate soon.
My university's still thinking about going all online. Our governor just declared a state of emergency, though, so that may figure into things.
As we discussed closures in work slack today, this was shared: [link]

Harvard just announced the same. My school (which is not Harvard) is discouraging students, faculty, and staff from traveling to other states, particularly over spring break. (Of course, they'll be closing the dorms over spring break, so any out of state students will have to leave the state for spring break.) They do note that faculty who actually commute to school from another state (like me, for instance) may continue to do so. Anyone who does travel to another state is expected to notify the administration of where and when. #CT BoR in full blown panic mode.
