Natter 76: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Foaminess
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
That was good of you, Matt. I hope he doesn't hold it against you for too long.
Aw, that sounds supercute, sj!
I have been mildly panicking for a couple of days thinking I would have to get to a race tomorrow morning and then wine tasting around noon and then a lecture in the evening and a symphony on Sunday and when will I do my laundry and cook meals and so forth?!? But the race is not until NEXT Saturday and now everything feels much more manageable. Of course, I am still at work over an hour after I was supposed to go home and have not started my presentation for next Wednesday, but those are not weekend concerns.
So, I put on a radio station that plays a lot of 80s music in the car when I take ltc to school, and as a result "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" is one of her favorite songs. I'm going to need to take a video of her singing it because it's adorable.
I'm already dead from how cute that is!

Phew!
Gospel weekend sounds fun too Jesse!!
I'm mostly torn between being bummed I have no plans this weekend (maybe oscars party on Sunday but I'm not super into the folks who will be going to that) but also excited that I have no need to set an alarm for tomorrow morning!!
I'll take a new pic tonight (the last one I took was a while ago, and this thing is seriously an ongoing project), and post it on FB.
I'm not on FB, but I'd be happy to get a link to that picture, if that's OK.
I'm intrigued.
Nothing too intriguing. Just the basic qualitative paper, with me thinking that zombies would be cool. I was oriented to think of a specific kind of disaster, and of course I came up with "End of Mankind". As one does. I think they thought I'd choose earthquakes, or floods, or terror attacks, or something like this.
I'm writing a ten pages research purpose on how to get people to share their imagination and metaphors and language to how they think of the end of mankind. Not everyone have to perish, of course. Just about 70% or so. Something that will competently change everything radically, and quick.
So apparently I'm still team "yeah, let's keep mankind. Dog races [food] and Manchester United [central heating and internet]". Even if it's just a make believe radical disaster.
I have no plans except reading for school. I re-read The Old Fashioned Girl for comfort this week, because work is just insane, because I am still (until next week) doing three jobs. I just want to to do two (half time) jobs- admissions and instructional design. I hate program support and compliance. And my old boss keeps trying to help me by asking other people to do parts of the job until we get our support person., but they all agree with her to do it, and then come to me to show them how to do it, and then it takes more time than just doing it! I wish they would tell her they can't do it independently. For example, she asked another assistant to do an office supply order for us, and gave her a list, but then the assistant came to me to get the order numbers, because "blue pens" was not enough of a directive, she needed to know details of what we wanted. She would never go to my boss, who was trying to take it off my plate, because she is a professor, so then I had to look up all the order numbers of what we wanted. I don't need the typing of the order taken off my plate, I need the responsibility taken off my plate!
Also, I cannot unblock my ear. It is making me insane. I have tried everything (except going to the doctor). But would it just pop already? Or drain? Or whatever it needs to do?
It is also snowy here, and I really need food, so I have to decide whether to walk, Uber or Instacart. I am thinking of walking to the store and Ubering back, because I also want wine and that is not available for delivery.
And my old boss keeps trying to help me by asking other people to do parts of the job until we get our support person., but they all agree with her to do it, and then come to me to show them how to do it, and then it takes more time than just doing it!
With any luck, that's only true the first time.
I've been to a four-hour church retreat and done grocery shopping. At some point today I need to cook up the fancy beans I bought last weekend and then make an actual dish with them.
I am similar to Jesse in that I have done some shopping and my plan is to cook the items I bought LAST WEEK from the farmer's market.
Plan is to make: this and and this .
Timelies all!
Mr. S didn't get up until 9 this morning, so we slept in a bit. No real plans for the weekend here.
way to go Mr. S - 9am is wayyy in for a toddler.
We went on our first college visit with Casper this morning! She is a junior. We visited Miami U., which she is not actually interested in attending, because it seemed like a good thing to practice at a local, low-stakes place.
Casper's take, which I know at least Teppy should find hilarious: "It was nice, but it was way too white for me." (In Miami's defense, it's not their fault we got a fratty white business major who went to St. X in Cincinnati, and also happened to be there the morning of sorority rush, so many women in uggs and formalwear and highly-done hair were dashing around campus in the snow.)
