Oh my gosh. Not a sports person at all (except hockey rpf), but what a shock and how horrible for the families
Apparently I walk like a little old lady. The Uber drivers all seem to think I am senior! And are surprised when I am in my 40s. Which is a change from work where everyone thinks I am in my 30s! So weird.
Speaking of falls, we just had a disturbing incident here -- Rosemary tripped and fell in the living room and couldn't get herself up by herself. (Her knees and back are bad.) I only found out after 20 minutes when she called up to me.
I know better than to try to get her up by myself -- she's badly overweight on top of her other problems, so we called 911 and a full deployment of cop, fire department and ambulance came. Once upright, she was a little bruised but otherwise OK to stay home.
Now I'm going to worry that if she manages to fall again (and eventually, we all will) she might end up lying on the floor for a couple hours until I get home. SIGH.
She needs an emergency call necklace.
I'm in Roanoke, VA the night.
Got an offer on the house in TX. I've accepted, so fingers crossed nothing is found in inspection to change things.
Fingers crossed!
I agree re: Rosemary and the emergency call....
Yay,msbelle! Fingers crossed the sale goes through! Safe driving tomorrow, too.
Oh Tom. I'm so sorry. Ease of aches and fast healing to you.
Sophia, my personal experience says that hot compresses--as hot as you can stand--on your face until they cool, repeat two or three times, then use saline nose spray, blow out as much as you can, repeat with slightly cooler compresses and massage your face. Then blow again, another small dose of saline, and coat the inside of your nostrils with a thin coat of vaseline. If you take OTC pain meds, do that. The multi-attack approach sidetracks sinus headaches for me. It takes some time, but it does work, at least for me. If you try it I hope it works for you.
That's so scary about Rosemary--I agree, a call necklace sounds like a good idea.
Yes, that virus is extremely troublesome.
Yeah. I have a project in Shanghai at the beginning of March and I'm supposed to send two employees there. It has me very concerned.
Yay msbelle that's awesome!!
ND I feel like most people who are freaking out are doing so very prematurely but going to China would be a tough one yeah.
The reports I'm seeing concern me, and having done quite a few projects with China now I understand how much then tend to underreport things, so if we are getting reports that they are shutting down big parts of the country, then I suspect it is bad. Shutting down Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland, both of which are not in the province where this started, is a bit sobering. It would be like shutting down Disneyland because of a viral outbreak in Phoenix.
Yeah—I saw some folks online be like "oh I'm scared to get on a plane (going from like, Tampa to North Carolina) this weekend" which I rolled my eyes at. But actual travel to China does seem like a risky prospect right now (even if you didn't get sick, all the chaos and restrictions that would probably be constantly changing would make being in another country far from home even harder!)
