this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I would give someone $1,000 to bring me a sandwich on gluten free bread. How the fuck does the hospital cafeteria not have gluten free bread? They have a big sign saying the Boars Head deli meats are gluten free, but what fucking good does that do me if you don't have gluten free bread to serve it on?!?!? I don't want a handful of turkey.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Ugh, Steph, I'm sorry. Could you get GrubHub or something to deliver?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

And separately, my latest exchange with the contract client.

Me: sends document to client for review, mentioning a thousand times that it's a draft and that the graphics aren't final.

Client: sends me a couple of technical changes

Me: sends another draft

Client: silence

Me: Hey, how's that latest draft?

Client: Oh, we made some changes and added things and put in the header and footer so it's totally done here's a PDF.

Me: ...remember how I was going to tweak those graphics? Also, one of your new sentences is missing a period? And now a set of steps reads 1, 4, 5? This is why you pay me?

Can they deliver to hospitals? I literally don't want to walk down to the lobby to meet the driver. I'm mostly whining because I am not a graciously self-sacrificing wife. I hate this shit. It sucks.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Everyone hates that shit, Steph. Because it does suck! A nurse or anyone can tell you if someone can deliver to the room.

Our wings are not tired.

A nurse or anyone can tell you if someone can deliver to the room.

This. It happens, but is likely a hospital floor level policy.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Could they deliver to the nurses' desk? and do you have the energy to walk that far? I know how sometimes you're down to the last dregs of your energy and that might seem to be too far ....

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

We had delivery to the maternity ward when I had ltc. So, I don't see why not.

information libertarian

I took off work to take lunch to my SIL when she was in the hospital with her 1 year old, who'd been admitted (for nothing too serious - observation, and ended up with ear tubes). My brother was at work in Oxford and SIL couldn't leave the baby alone to go to a cafeteria or even a vending machine, and the hospital wasn't allowed to give her any food since she was not a patient.

So I totally would have brought you lunch today, or asked M. to, except it's 4pm and I hope you've had some by now.

OK, yet another reason to appreciate the hospital we usually go to -- you can totally get a "guest tray." And the food is pretty good.
