New plumber guy seems a lot more reliable than the first, but my hot water may have to stay off for a week because of scheduling. There is leaking inside the tank, but because the systems are on different pressures, it's forcing the extra pressure back into the furnace, hence the emergency discharge.
I'm somewhat relieved that the problem is a real problem, not bullshit, but the replacement should come in to well-under $6K (It'd be about $2500 for a free-standing new system, by comparison, new-plumber said.)
I'm sorry if I'm being boring here, but it's good to be able to share thoughts about this.
Happy happy birthdays, Theo and Jesse!
That payment plan plumber gets the stink eye from me, too. Maybe a low-key spa day for hot water? Or a gym or pool with a day pass situation?
Happy birthday to Theo and Rayne as well!
Maybe a low-key spa day for hot water?
$15 for a 30-minute soak at this place! [link] Which I always mean to go to, but never actually do....
-t, there's a YMCA about two blocks away, so that'd be our choice.
I really wanted to be able to turn the hot water back on for a couple hours a day, but that will make the furnace go gushy-gushy in a big way.
Happy birthday, Jesse, Theo, and Rayne!
I am working today and so far it has been very slow, which is good because this cold is kicking my ass.
I'd forgotten about Inman Oasis, which is actually kinda work-adjacent for me.
It seems like such a nice low-key treat in the winter.
Timelies all!
Happy Birthday Theo, Jesse and Rayne!
We are at Gary's dad and stepmom's place.(My brother and sister-in-law are at my parents' place, so we're here.) Last night we did the traditional Chinese buffet with the whole family.(The two youngest neiblings came down, though the oldest decided to stay in New York)
Over half the department is out today and more aren't coming in until later. It's spooky quiet.
Happy Birthdays, Theo, Rayne, and Jesse!
