I think it is designed so that we could take off the summer, when there is no work. Except, things have changed, so there is always work! And we have students all year long. But who wants to complain about too many benefits!

I always feel like short weeks have the same amount of work in them, so I am more inclined to do a week+ at a time.
I have: showered, done some in the kitchen (cleaned stovetop + windowsills, swept), put in laundry and put away clothes in my room, swept in the living room and put together Buddy's Christmas present, which is a hilarious RV-styled scratcher. He seems to be enjoying it.
I think the errands next, if I can figure out what I need to buy for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day apps.
My company lets us sell back excess vacation time every year. I don't ever want to do that, but it is a nice perk for people who get in that situation. 10 weeks is a lot but you only have to do that once. Take the summer off!
We couldn't sell back and we could not take more than a week at a time. Until 2 years ago, we could not rollover. I had employees just lose 1-2 weeks of vacation every year.
Oh, hey, I just checked and I have 420 hours of accrued vacation time. And because we have 35-hour workweeks, that's twelve weeks.
I guess I need to start chipping into that.
Yes Tom, you do.
I think I'm going to lose about 19 hours at year's end, which isn't too bad. I suppose I could take an extra day off this week, but I hate to ask on such short notice.
Matt, asking for one day off on short notice isn't bad if you don't have anything urgent going on. It's no worse than calling in sick because you didn't feel well.
I'm taking lots of half-days off to take care of my use or lose for this year. (But my schedule is so complicated with doctor appointments, physical therapy, and infusions that I email my supervisor first thing Monday morning to remind her of when I'm in, when I'm out, and when I'm teleworking.)
Take your time off, people!!
I did my errands (last gift bought, grocery shopped) and cleaned out the fridge a little. Now eating lunch.
I'm irrationally annoyed that my main work lunch place wants to give me a free cupcake for my birthday, but it's only good for a week, and I won't be at work for a week! Is it worth it to go down there (not far) for a free cupcake???
