That's so tough, askye. If you didn't pay for the heat it would be hard but if you have to pay for the heat too that's just ridiculous.
I am bailing on dancing tonight because I have a book and a weighted blanket and am sore from weightlifting (only a little but still) and don't want to have to shower and dress and look nice.
Oh y'all the whole thing was a clusterfuck. This place is a $30-$50 plate place extra for salad with your dinner $$$$ wine. Wood panel everything, y'all cabinets full of various whiskey dim lights.....and then giant TVs playing sports, like in every corner. Private room, main room - all TVs and p e main one that must be like 10x12 feet. Do like are they a high end steakhouse thing or a sports bar??? Well there's more. At about 8, the main tv goes off and a live band starts up. A good band, would be great at a big holiday party or wedding or whatnot, but so loud you cannot talk, and we are not even in the main room.
Orders were taken at 8. We got salads at 9. I had to get my dinner to go because mac needs to be at wet oak at 10 and I SPED to get home by 10:01 waiting for my dinner to come wrapped to go.
That's not all of it, but I rage exhausted. My god. A dinner for 16, with a start time of 7 and they were starting to eat dinner at 9:35. What a fucking waste of time and $$$.

WTAF. That's awful. I'm so sorry for the waste of your time.
Clearly they should have had YOU organize the holiday celebration. They really need you, alas for them.
This week was the resident-and-family holiday party at my assisted living workplace. All of the public ground floor rooms were set up for the entertainment, not just the large dining room, so that was the parlor, the library, the All Day Cafe, the Community Room, the Private Dining Room, and the Atrium. I had a big bunch of rides that kept me hopping during most of the setup, but also managed a mission or two for extra decorations like the battery-operated LEDs lights and so on. Then I went home for a few hours, came back to mostly just circulate and say hello to family members who were visiting for the party. Then helped with moving the furniture back into place afterwards.
This is a nice place to work.
I'm so happy for you that you found that job, Theo!
And happy that msbelle gets to leave hers! I hope very soon
What lisah said. So happy for Theo and msbelle
Inspired by Kat's post on Facebook, I just started aCoursera course on Modern and Contemporary poetry. It is pretty good. I like poetry, but I don't really read it outside of a classroom setting, because what is really satisfying about it, to me, is the discussion and everone's insights coming together, and I obviously don't get that from solo reading. This course has pretty robust forums, and it looks like a bunch of people who just keep taking the course over and over and become moderators and TAs. I am still in Emily Dickinson, who I am pretty familiar with, but next is Walt Whitman, who I haven't really read in a classroom except in high school. (And I think I am familiar mostly because of Dead Poets Society!)
Which course,, Sophia? I've been thinking I'd like to refresh my understanding of poetry, especially the more modern stuff.
Have I mentioned that ltc wants to make her own Gashlycrumb Tinies books?

A is for Amy, who fell down the stairs....
Does she want to do her own drawings or make up new names and rhymes? So excellent. I want a copy!
