Getting a replacement Soc Sec card while you don't immediately need one is a really good idea, Sophia. The SS office is two blocks from my house so I went in person when I needed to do it and that part was quick and painless. Did have to wait to get it in the mail, but I wasn't waiting on it in order to be able to do anything in particular so that was not a problem for me. Bummer about the savings bonds. I hope they turn up

Y'all, my niece is 21 today. I am not ready for her to be a full on adult, this is nuts.

It is a bullshit requirement, but one I need to deal with. It wasn't in today's mail either. I am so thoroughly aggravated at this point.

I once got challenged because the signature on the SS card did not match my signature on some random form. I looked at the woman and said "I signed in when I was TWELVE." She said 'oh, good point'

Same. By my credit union, even.

Sophia, order the SS card now. If my experience is anything to go by, it's better to have it when you don't need it than trying to get it when you need it ASAP.

I feel like I'm getting a lot of emails that include the phrase "thanks for that insight" lately - is this a general trend? I thought it was just a particular salesperson that I only recently started working with, but I'm seeing it from customers now, too.
