I am not...I am not the damsel in distress. I am not some case. I have to work this. I've lived in a cave for 5 years in a world where they killed my kind like cattle. I am not going to be cut down by some monster flu. I am better than that. What a wonder...how very scared I am.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Mac and I dropped off the application for the apartment, but since he moves slow as molasses and refused to get up when I woke him, the woman in the office had already left for the day. We will hear on Monday if approved.

While he was filling out the application, I filled out the Community College application for him online (almost all the same info, so - he just said the stuff, wrote it down and I typed it in) - 2 applications at once. SO, not college application is in before the deadline!!! YAYAY!!!

From the apartment office we went to Target to get him a phone case for his new phone (remember phone died last week) and I grabbed 2 Tiles that were on sale. Then to Home Depot to get dish packing inserts and the double thick boxes that go with them.

I've packed up 4 place settings of the pink flower china I bought recently - will sell the other pieces of it (3 places settings + a few extra pieces). I'm going over to my parents' soon and will pack up mom's china that I am inheriting now. We ate T'day dinner on it.

But first I am listing a series of stuff on FB marketplace in the hopes some will do their holiday shopping local and used.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Thanksgiving in Kentucky was great. We had 27 people in attendance, all but two of Dad's siblings represented. Food was awesome, and it was great to see most of the family all together enjoying each others' company. We even managed to avoid heavy rain until back on I-57 homeward at a point where I'm familiar with the route.

Today was a quiet nap-filled day, with Indian buffet for lunch and my only shopping was for a new pair of shoes that I desperately needed in rainy weather. I settled on these, which are a bit snazzier than I usually go for in casual shoes but felt like being massaged by clouds when I tried them on.

Edit: My ugly apple pie was half-gone by the time we left, which I consider quite the accomplishment since it was in competition with a 6' x 6' buffet table full of assorted desserts. I think the pumpkin rolls were the only dessert that beat that percentage.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I am going to be off soon for second Thanksgiving, with family. I made, FINALLY, a decent cauliflower stuffing and roasted Brussels Sprouts. The darn fire detectors going off the whole time!

I always start off vacations really bored and then don't want to go back.

I am also trying to think of things for Aidan to do tomorrow, because I have no more stuff to carry to the curb. Except the computers. Can I make him help me refinish she woodwork for an hour? That is what I am super obsessed with right now. I could also have him move the desk ai want to refinish on to the back porch so I have ventilation. With the woodwork it is mostly cleaning and polishing, but the desk really needs to be stripped and stained, since I stained it when ai was 14 and didn't know the meaning of patience.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm currently going down the rabbit hole of renewing my driver's license online.

It appears that I have some EZPass 'violations' that have to be paid -- from 2015 and 2016, and since I have automatic deductions made I have no idea how those are existing or why they took until now to show up. And of course, the relevant people to ask are not online on a Saturday holiday weekend.

Also if I want to renew my license for a Real ID, I need my birth certificate. Which is... somewhere.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Did I say this here? The woman at the RMV was super bitter about the Real ID, starting with the idea that a regular Mass license isn't "real."

That's really annoying about the EZPass, though.

I'm surprised there's not more Fundamentalist and Libertarian pushback against Real ID, which is pretty much an internal passport and is so very Big Gubmint.

It really is gross, and there should be more pushback! And yet, I submitted my pile of paperwork so the Feds can know who and where I am just for my own convenience.

Our wings are not tired.

Nothing quite like comfy shoes, Matt.

Sophia, can Aidan maybe do something like move the smoke detector so it doesn't go off every time you cook? He might enjoy the woodwork refinishing. I find that kind of work satisfying.

I did the ID business a while ago. Yes, annoying.

Aidan might also be able to swap out the smoke detector so you get one made for kitchens and bathrooms. It's got a 'panic button' that you can push to turn off -- I have them, and keep the kitchen broom handy when the exhaust fan isn't enough.

This being an apartment, the alarm may be wired in, in which case you'd want to talk to the landlord. Rules about smoke alarms and apartments may vary widely across states, but in MA you'd have to supply a certain number of smoke alarms in various places in any apartment.
