My salary is also commensurate with our cost of living here, but I have been at $525 with no increase for about 10 years. I started at $495. If I wanted to buy a tiny house on a highly trafficked street,my mortgage would be less than that. We are an outlier.

Argh, I've been madly emailing people to coordinate Thanksgiving at the ski club, and now the NWS is saying "heavy snow from Tuesday to Thursday, don't drive in the Western Sierra", and I'm all ARGH.
I guess if we stay home, it's fine, I ordered a turkey and could invite some friends over? Do I have friends enough for that, at the last minute? Sigh.
